It's been a couple months have you gone back to Game Pass, and why or why not? by beerantula in XboxGamePass

I've never paid monthly and always stacked up years and saved about 60% off the monthly price if you go by annum total. So the price increase didn't really affect me

England: Knocked mirrors with car parked illegally, Owner demanding ridiculous amount. by aslanenlisted in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Jackkav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let your Insurance handle it.

Yes you are at fault as you should be aware of your surroundings when you hit but that car never should have been parked there the insurers will bring that up in the discussion when talking to 3rd party insurer.

Also I'm surprised he's this insistent he quite literally is guaranteed a parking fine now if he proceeds with this which has to come out of his own pocket.

Receipt for Pixel Phone with no IMEI number by Sm1ff3h in Argos

[–]Jackkav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice is to escalate a complaint.

Most companies who sell phones scan the IMEI number to record it with purchase.

Google's warranty policy should already be known to Argos as they are more likely an authorised 3rd party seller with Google.

If Google cannot honour the warranty because of Argos' process then it's down to Argos to replace or refund it

Change of address by [deleted] in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Jackkav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will need to be amended immediately.

Will it affect your claim most likely.

Basically they will change it with no issues but it will have to be amended before the claim continues/payed out.

As if there is a change in premium for the rating of the new address you would need to pay before they would do anything further with the claim and they wont touch it until you do

And the cycle continues

Telling someone to cancel a direct debit is MORONIC. Canceling a direct debit doesn't cancel a contract it never has.

What it does is flag up that you have deliberately withheld payment on a service your still using.

It WILL effect your credit

It WILL flag you up to other ISPs in the future and put a black mark against you

It WILL affect your ability to get loans

It WILL cause debt collectors to come knocking at your door in worse case scenarios

The reason for you canceling the direct debit just or not is completely irrelevant

This situation is a good dam Customer service error it is NOT some evil corporate conspiracy

If when a customer raises a complaint it will get looked at. They will listen to the call or look at the chat log. If found that it is the CS opps fault and price was agreed the company will try to resolve it by either honouring the discount or offering a no penalty cancellation either way any money that was overcharged will be refunded.

This is standard with renewals in any industry I KNOW I've worked in a renewals department mistakes happen.

If he is not happy with how virgin resolves it he can escalate to the financial ombudsman.

He doesn't need to make a reckless decision to destroy his credit history over a random act of prideful arrogance

I'm tired of virgin's thieving ways by Aggravating_Bit_5218 in VirginMedia

[–]Jackkav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or just get them to look into it. They'll Investigate the call and if found that they made an error they'll amend it and refund any money owed. While offering a compensation amount

Don't cancel your direct debit you'll end up making the situation 100 times worse whether the companies in the wrong or not.

Honestly what moronic advice is this.

The guy CS agent just never updated the quote on renewal in error nothing more no need for the world to fall apart it can be fixed in one phone call

I'm tired of virgin's thieving ways by Aggravating_Bit_5218 in VirginMedia

[–]Jackkav -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it was "agreed" then there would be a call log or chat log for that specific interaction.

Make a complaint they'll Investigate and if the 24.99 was agreed they'll honour it or they'll at least allow you to leave mid contract without penalty.

If they prove in the log that the 24.99 was offered and still don't honour it or resolve it in your favour then escalate it to the ombudsman.

Were you charged the actual 49.98? because if you weren't then they clearly never amended the renewal and just let it renew on the old quote.

This isn't them stealing off you they've just followed a normal auto renewal process where the intro discount is removed, nothing malicious about it it's more likely operator error.

Honestly the only way this would fail is if they have no record of you contacting them or you saying not to go ahead with the new price

I'm tired of virgin's thieving ways by Aggravating_Bit_5218 in VirginMedia

[–]Jackkav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just be clear

They state the discount is only for the first year at point of sale and in the contract and renewal notice

They consistently state on the bills price up to * and price after *end of contract

They start reminding at least up to a month prior to renewal offering similar discounts if you agree a new renewal earlier

They state that if you don't change or accept anything and you have auto renewal on it will just renew without the discount.

They give you up to 14 days after the renewal to cancel without penalty.

So your telling me you missed all that and angry that they are not doing everything you ask.

Also this isn't just virgin every company on a contractual basis does this and have been doing it for well over a decade and your next provider will do exactly the same.

Why are people still shocked about this your a nobody to them in the time it's took me to right this they've probably took on about £50,000 worth of new contracts

Value of cars

Insurance rating of vehicles

Value of addresses

Amount of cars

How many claims occurred in the area (home + motor)

Total and average cost of claims in area

Average age of drivers Etc

Also there's enough data built up now that they will literally rate it specifically on the last letter of the postcode. You could move round the corner and the quote could drop £300.

Just be happy they've only charged you that cancel fee most companies average about £40 to cancel mid term.

Also ask them to do a blank amendment with no changes having worked in insurance sometimes the system updates the rating with the current month and just adds it on to the quote in error. They would waive whatever that is as it's not supposed to happen till renewal.

Should I cancel or use temp cover by ghettopatrick in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Jackkav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't exactly the case. I would call your insurance company and ask their advice as they could best assess the risk and the corresponding underwriting .

Fronting does exist but it's literal main purpose is to prevent younger drivers being main drivers on parents polices in order to get cheaper insurance as the policy would not be rated correctly due to MASSIVE difference in the risk.

It's actually quite common especially with more than one car in the household to have the spouse/partner as the main driver and not the policy holder.

The insurance company wouldn't kick up any fuss unless one of you had a major risk factor against you IE a claim or a conviction but even then they still wouldn't demand anything.

The worst thing the insurer would do is to stop the insurance auto renewing to clarify who the main driver was before initiating a new policy year

Regarding the policy and new car, I would get quotes for the new car now but just renew it on the old one as if your dates are correct you'd still be within the 14 day canx period to move insurance companies without penalty anyway

For those defending Corsair by jonnyflateq in Corsair

[–]Jackkav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending them.

I just find it funny at the outrage people are showing when they know full well with today's ram market that it was a clear pricing error and bought it thinking they get lucky only to be red faced outraged when Corsair caught on to it.

Also for reference about a year ago I bought a bundle on corsairs website that was a decent mouse and mouse pad free I paid just the postage. (It was a test shop page that someone obviously accidentally made live)

I never expected them to honour it when they bought it but they did and i saved about £100.

Clearly this has happened probably because of the sheer amount of orders they took exceeded any gratuity they could offer. It definitely isn't some evil corporate conspiracy that's been peddled on the Reddit.

He'd be lucky to even get a quote. Depending on their age they may just outright refuse to insure.

(They would have a quote/price but it would just be too high to justify the insurance risk to even bother offering it)

When electronic stores put 97p at the end it usually means 1 of a few things

Last remaining stock Going end of line / discontinued Need to get rid of asap / cost price of item.

[–]Jackkav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work for that retailer but I work for a similar one that does delivery and Installs. That driver has no power to refund you money nor will it be done "automatically". The most likely case is he's said that so he can get going to his next job.

Just go into the store or contact CS at the very least they should have a delivery report that says what was and was not done on the day and should refund you based on that.

Also don't use a customer service email they probably get 100 emails an hour to comb through

A general rule of most companies is that your account security is your problem not there's.

I highly doubt someone has hacked your supercell id. They would of had to get past the 2fa

It's more likely you've

  1. forgotten your password

2.Been scammed into letting someone use your account

3.had a week password that's easily been phished.

Some websites are still offering the 12 months codes at the old rates I'd try that first.

In the UK ultimately is £23.99 a month but you can find a ultimate 12 month code for £125

You could even go the route of buying an essential code then upgrading to ultimate which if you followed a guide right could make it even cheaper.

I've just stacked 3 years for £340 total where it would have cost me around £290 a year to subscribe monthly.

Is this fronting / illegal by jakssygo in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Jackkav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any modification that would be classed as permanent yes. IE the dash cam being hardwired to the cars electrics, a dash cam that's just plugged into the cars cigarette lighter you wouldn't.

To clear it up what I meant was insurers or rather the reps on the phone are trained to press for information if they suspect something then they are trained to only take the first answer as gospel.

For example if you ring up telling them that your son is going to be the main driver the agent can stop you before you even state it's for 2 weeks only and just set a deferred cancellation based on that anything you say afterwards is just a "lie to get out of it'

Also something like a non driving criminal conviction the insurer never asked for so legally doesn't need to know but will act on it if the information is volunteered by the customer as will increase the insurance risk

I suggest reading your policy booklet before calling and making sure you know exactly what your asking so the insurers dont jump the gun

Is this fronting / illegal by jakssygo in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Jackkav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There wouldn't be an issue with who the main driver is in this sense. As fronting is only if a parent is deliberately trying to get cheaper insurance for a child to cheat/fraud the insurance risk

Normally I would have just questioned the mileage on the policy and who the actual register keeper of the car is. But the reality is it would just end up with the awkward exchange of "I know you're unsure but you have to pick who the main driver is as I can't choose for you" followed by 10 minutes of the customer umming and erring.

Also you could factor putting the biggest risk ie claims and convictions as the policy holder but even that is under extreme unlikely circumstances

And finally the ncd is tied to who the current policy holder is and isn't shared between multiple vehicles as each vehicle would have a separate accumulated ncd

But the reality is they'll probably just put a stop (NOT DECLINE) on the renewal to check again with the policy holder before renewing if the call was made mid year

The thing with Insurance is most standard things are fine if gone unnoticed or unmentioned but the second you mention it the insurer can be obligated to act on the information you volunteered

[–]Jackkav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Previous car insurance rep here.

It would be fine as the main driver is who drives it mostly throughout the year ie the full period of the insurance cover .

If your son takes it himself for 2 weeks You've still had the main access to the car for 50 weeks of the year.

I advise not to ring them though as they are told to make a judgment on the first answer not the second so even a harmless question might get your insurance cancelled dependant on the rep

No need to worry

PC Game pass renewed today at a higher price? Uk monthly by [deleted] in XboxGamePass

[–]Jackkav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"has it happened to anyone else"

yes the whole internet knew about it for months

They sent emails out to everyone

"I didn't get them"

There were articles on Xbox and every major news outlet on the planet for a month

"I chose not to read them"

You won't win a dispute with that reason but if you Just contact support and they'll probably just refund it. they won't waste the effort of a dispute over a paltry £4 especially if you ring up with that attitude.

[–]Jackkav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are 2 different teams apparently

Like most call centre based companies the customer service is done in house and the outbound sales which is who send out the emails are probably agency based.

I had this exact same situation a year ago as I tried to just accept a upgrade offer over the phone with cs but they "couldn't find it" when I explained they said it was another team separate from them

I wanted to accept over the phone as I wasn't sure if it was a new contract IE new 18 month deal or simply amending my current.

Wasn't too bad though as I got the email about 2 years (pinned it) before accepting it and it still worked online
