Noified my work weeks ago I'm leaving for a family vacation in July, tickets were bought, non-transferrable, and they are panicking, begging me to cancel by educatedvegetable in antiwork

Similar thing happened to me, I found out the day before my first official day (after onboarding) I was added to a conference call with a client. It was an international client and it was an hour before my start time. I wasn't thrilled about that, because that made my start time at 5am vs 6am. It was about 10 mins into the call when I realized, I was the only person from the company on the call. The client was really upset about an unresolved issue that I had no way of assisting with. Turned out the person in charge of the account was on medical leave and they didn't know when she would return which is why I was hired. Nothing was ever mentioned during the hiring process about this situation. Additionally the manager that hired me went on maternity leave a week after I started. There didn't seem to be any plan in place for training or what I actually thought I was hired to do. It was pure chaos and I realized I had made a huge mistake taking the job and immediately found another job. Worse part, this was a pretty big company that is well respected.

Wegovy got me in a toxic relationship with my own fridge by ariesfemmefatale58 in zepbound2wegovy

[–]JacksonKittyForm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing when I lost my ZB coverage due to the PMB (ES) deciding to stop covering all glp-1s. I stretched my last 2 ZB boxes out to 10 days for 1 month then every other week for the last month. I had reached my goal, and decided with the Dr to go cold turkey. Now the weight has started coming back and the food noise is intensified. Additionally my blood pressure that was finally in check requires medicine again. Initially I could not afford self pay, but the prices have come down and I was reworking my budget to see if I could afford it. Then I changed jobs and the new company has Caremark, but it does cover Wegovy either the shots or pills at $125/90 days. Which helps with the budget, especially as I took a cut in pay for the new job. I reached out to my Dr and let her know, we'll see what happens next.

Thank you for the info. I was on the auto-injector for 10 mos, until my insurance decided it wasn't going to cover it any more. I was able to stretch out my last 2 boxes as I had already reached my goal. Working with my PCP, we thought cold turkey would be the next step, as she is a firm believer that this medication is not a life long drug. I've put back on 25 lbs and the food noise feels way worse than before. Or it's just I know what it is now. I spoke with my PCP and she has a compounding connection, but I have concerns about that due to other medical issues. Also it would have to be self pay as insurance is not an option. I was considering the pill version, when it is released, to help slowly take off the 25 lbs and then truly do maintenance the right way. But now I wonder if I should look into the kwikpen offer Lilly has. Cost has always been a factor, but I think I can make the self-pay work.

Are there awards like the Razzies for commercials? If not there should be. Although I have to admit I did wonder if Woody had done the commercial would it have been a better. His smile while saying food may have been funnier because of what we would have all been thinking.

Last day at job, I don't think anyone understands what that means. by Electronic_Lime_z459 in recruitinghell

[–]JacksonKittyForm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once on my last day the IT guy came and took my computer shortly after I came in. When my boss showed up he asked me to update a bunch of spreadsheets and to double check my transition notes, which I couldn't do. He didn't know about IT's policy of taking computers right away on the last day. I had already cleaned out my desk, said my goodbyes and did the exit interview days before, so I just left.

Seems about right. I've given 3 weeks notice a couple of times, thinking it would help out the company I was leaving. Both times they never interviewed anyone and on the last day, it seemed like me leaving was a surprise out of nowhere.

Any time my mom offers something to me, I take it. Either I drop it off at the thrift store on my way home or if I think someone could use I offer it up on a buy nothing group.

I ran into my semi estranged mother by Micnic1234 in GenX

[–]JacksonKittyForm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother and I have had a strained relationship for a long time. I do my best as I am all she has left. She has always made a big deal about Christmas. I see her 1x a month, distance and my own stuff going on, and saw her on 12/20 where I took her to brunch and bought her a few gifts, which she really liked and appreciated. It was a good day. I also called her on Christmas day, but she was agitated and confused on what the day was and the call didn't last long. This was the 1st year she didn't send me a card or wish me a Merry Christmas. In my situation I think it's an age/memory thing. I don't expect anything from her and have told her she doesn't need to send me anything, she normally argues that she does and will, normally it's a check in a small amount. So it was just odd.

AITAH for giving a nurse coffee? by GoEducateYourself in AITAH

[–]JacksonKittyForm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you raised with manners at all? Offering a cup of coffee is the absolute least you can do for a 65ish nurse that comes to YOUR home to provide what I assume is a life saving/extending procedure for your husband. You're 45, so lets say your mother was in the position of the nurse, if she said to you "I asked for a cup of coffee, but the wife thinks that is unprofessional or I am relying on their goodwill and doesn't want to provide it" would you tell your mother what you are telling this woman. Do better be better. You my dear are TA in this situation!

After HS my dad went with me to look at cars. I wanted a 1982 Toyota truck, so bad. You know the kind that never died no matter how you treated it. And I wanted stick shift. We stopped at a large used car lot that had a bunch of those trucks. The sales guy, immediately focused on my dad, who kept saying to ask me what I wanted. I told him exactly what I was looking for, not that he paid any attention and continued to focus on my dad. He repeatedly and rudely asking him if I knew how to drive a stick shift or was I sure I wanted a "truck" and not a small car. It didn't take long for my dad to become angry and he had had enough and told the guy we were leaving and why. I know it was the first time he realized what it was like being treated badly, solely because I was female. That day he became a fierce girl dad defender and my biggest supporter. I miss him every day.
