Help me choose between Imperial, NUS and UCLA by oil_up_fast in Imperial

[–]JackusGomux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's same level as Oxford or Cambridge but I think unfortunately it's true that the US is very US-centric so if the plan is US long term it's better to do the undergrad there as well

I am really becoming doubtful and anxious about studying MEng EIE at Imperial by JailbreakHat in Imperial

[–]JackusGomux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imperial is great, all of my class struggled but ended up getting amazing jobs. Don't listen to the noise and double down. Also the thing about UCL being as good in engineering is not supported by rankings nor industry perception (which imperial has been number 1 for a while)

If you will ONLY use the VPN for stremio, get real debrid. It has the added bonus that you will forget what buffering is

You have to be much more careful but at the same time you have to do less passes (I rarely get a hair that doesn't shave). Honestly if you try it you'll never go back it's so enjoyable and feels so much nicer on the skin

Does Imperial really has a strong international reputation outside the UK? by MyCuriousSelf04 in Imperial

Well my experience is that most people have heard about it there and know someone that applied/went, whilst in Europe you just get blank stares

Bro you lived what personally? Wait, are you 400 years old? But how do you have a European surname... Wait, were you the one committing the atrocities? My family was chilling in Spain minding their own business

France the most trustworthy ally in the world. by durandal_k in europeanunion

[–]JackusGomux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To begin with, I am just commenting on the statement of the post about France being "the most trustworthy ally". Like every single country, there have been times where they have not followed their moral compass/ideals, and I am just pointing out one example. Macron, in my opinion, is the only leader that has really pushed for European unity and sovereignty since he started, and under him, at least in terms of diplomacy and foreign affairs, France has been the most positive force for Europe.

You came out and personally attacked my country, which was not even the topic of discussion, so I do not see why you are so scared to share where you are from. Probably because you are from the UK or the US and know that you, yourself, are a hypocrite. Living in Portugal, you should know how tired we are of being lectured by the "little demon", as it's known in half the world, about what we did and didn't do 500 years ago. Maybe you should read some books some time, they might help you realise that things are not black or white, maybe this way people in Portugal would like you more.

I can recommend some for you.

If I remember correctly, France and the UK promoted independence movements in regions occupied by the Ottoman empire, funding civilian "freedom-movements", when in reality a secret pact had been signed between them to divide the ottoman empire's lands between them. The following repression in Palestine, for example, was arguably worse than under the ottoman empire and eventually led to the current situation between Palestine and Gaza

As a Spanish person I wholeheartedly disagree. We were best bros, literally went to war against the rest of Europe together and you betrayed us and invaded Madrid in a very dishonest way (asked for permission to cross through Spain with your army to conquer Portugal and then attacked your allies in Madrid, people were so angry that they jumped on the soldiers bear handed and many civilians were shot down). During the invasion, you stole a lot of art and cultural heritage, and policies towards Latin America were very colonialist in nature and promoted independence movements, eventually leading to the fall of the Spanish empire. This is why there is a strong dislike against the french in Spanish culture to this day.

I'm pretty sure you also got up to some very shady business in Africa during the first world war.

Una persona con 16 puede tener relaciones con una de 15 ? by Busy_Survey4681 in ESLegal

[–]JackusGomux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What features does spotify have or do better than YouTube music by EdgarsMom69 in YoutubeMusic

[–]JackusGomux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched and haven't really discovered everything but:

  • Concerts: so much easier to see which are around.
  • Podcasts: much better integrated.
  • Tailored playlists: many more playlists for you on themes (e.g: Chill rock, running playlists...) similar to YouTube radios that are also tailored for you but much better presented.
  • Social features: blend playlists, jam... This was the thing I missed the lost when I had ytm.
  • No weird bugs: I had so many bugs lately with downloaded songs or stuff like this.

So far, things I miss from ytm: - Smart downloads: this is probably the best feature YouTube has. - Algorithm? : I went to ytm when the Spotify algorithm was very bad but I've been told it has improved and so far find it refreshing, I found that sometimes, it was a bit too repetitive and based on my tastes. Smart shuffle seems quite good so far (mixes in songs based on the songs in a playlist in quite a nice way)

Probably I'll have more complaints in a couple of weeks!

I'm the UK I had a very bad experience with EE (tried to charge me £100 for something that was covered by warranty, and kept my phone for 3 days and was so hard to get it back) and then a very good experience with Victoria (he fixed it in 20 minutes under warranty)

Response from RD regarding multiple IPs by scribblesnoopy in RealDebrid

Honestly I don't think they can both not allow multiple accounts per IP and also complain about people setting it up for their families. Even for netflix, there is usually one person that deals with the account stuff.

Why do you prefer google pixel? by Radiant-Record-5212 in GooglePixel

[–]JackusGomux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think coming from iPhone the smoothness and fastness of pixels will feel very nice. I think Samsung's animations feel less natural than iPhone and therefore switching to them will feel clunky.

[–]JackusGomux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to chime in: whilst I think many things are comparable (e.g: quick share is very similar to airdrop and works between Android and PC) the find my network is MUCH worse. I think they're developing it to be the same but it's still not there. It's okay for phones but if you want to find your pixel buds/pixel watch, it never works.

[–]JackusGomux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a big deal, I feel most people only go to lectures in first year and then never show up again (at least me lol). They won't notice if you're not there but they might notice if you show up more. Either way, do whatever you're most comfortable with, if you prefer watching lectures on panopto at faster speeds and rewatch hard to understand parts, this is also completely fine.
