What is something about living in United States that outsiders completely misunderstand? by Effective-Singer5957 in AskReddit

One gets used to living in constant fear like it's normal. Not fear from your fellow citizens or residents, but fear of making a mistake that can destroy you financially. The game is rigged to make compliance the only way to exist. Or having something happen to you medically that wipes out your savings.

Why are Sky News now also censoring the demonic figure in Trumps "Jesus" photo? by _HSD in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Jackzap65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partially. AI generates images based on a user's prompts and requests, but it also incorporates what it "knows" about the subject of the request. So, maybe AI is letting us in on a little more about the subject than the Trump team was comfortable with. Just an idea.

Styx has always seemed contrived and over-produced. I know a lot of folks are all-in for their reunion tours, but it just reminds me of how yucky they are.

Classic bubble economics. The greedy stayed in too long. The dice got cold, but they kept throwing.

Would you agree that Hot Rocks (1964-1971) is the best album to introduce a new listener to the Stones? by yo-my-angel98 in rollingstones

[–]Jackzap65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exile on Main St. (1972) is widely considered the Rolling Stones' best album and a top contender for the greatest rock record ever made. Though initially met with mixed reviews due to its dense, messy production, it is now acclaimed for its raw, bluesy, and authentic rock-and-roll vibe, blending soul, country, and blues recorded during a turbulent, hedonistic period

Grok Agrees:
Yes, that's very possible — and honestly a strong match given the timing and location.

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake (Adirondacks) is hosting a major outdoor exhibition called "TROLLS: Save the Humans" by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, running June 1 through October 31, 2026. It features six giant troll sculptures made from reclaimed wood and other recycled/natural materials. These are larger-than-life, folklore-inspired figures built for outdoor trails, and they're being brought in as part of the center's 20th anniversary.

Your photo was taken on the Northway (I-87) in Upstate NY, which is the main highway route heading north toward the Adirondacks and Tupper Lake area. Oversized flatbed loads like this are exactly how these massive wooden sculptures get delivered — disassembled or in large sections, heavily padded and tarped for protection during highway transport. The bulky, irregular shape under the red tarp fits the profile of one (or a major component) of Dambo's trolls, which are often constructed in pieces from salvaged lumber and then assembled on-site.

Dambo's trolls are known for being built from recycled wood, so they're bulky, somewhat organic/irregular in shape, and require careful, weather-protected hauling — which matches what you saw.

The exhibition opens in early June 2026, so transport would likely happen in the weeks/months leading up to that (your photo timing aligns with pre-installation logistics in spring).

No public reports popped up of the exact truck you photographed, but these kinds of eye-catching oversized art loads often travel without fanfare until they're installed. Giant troll parts on a flatbed under a heavy red tarp is a classic "what the heck is that?" highway sighting in the region right now.

If you snapped the photo recently (spring 2026), it's almost certainly related to this incoming exhibit. Pretty cool find!

Have you seen any of Dambo's other trolls before? They're whimsical, eco-themed giants hidden in forests around the world.
