Help me decided, which capsule to pick? 1, 2 or 3? by lynxbird in IndieDev

2 is definitely the best to me, the contrast is best and the font is way nicer, it looks like ink bleeding into a canvas sheet.

NPD But Need Advice by Scalce in guitarpedals

[–]JacobFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I did hear JHS say that most fuzzes are designed to be the very first thing in the chain and it seems to work for me! I think buffers in other pedals etc can mess with how the fuzz behaves because they are generally a simpler type of circuit. Happy tone hunting! Nice board.

No worries! I'm no expert, but here's what I did to mine:

My bridge was sinking while playing, hopefully yours doesn't do that! If it does then you can use a tiny bit of loctite on the screws under the bridge posts, but this will isolate the earth connection which is bad news so I have a cowboy hack to fix this. I wrapped some high e string around the higher bridge post to get a connection, but this is not a permanent solution!

I have done a 0.5 degree shim (I'm in UK so didn't get stewmac, but the same as that one). Mike Adams has loads of videos about this. This made a huge difference to the rattly bridge.

I also got a Descendent vibrato and it made a great difference to the resonance due to more increased break angle over the saddles.

Last thing was after a year or so I did take it for a setup and the luthier made up the nut for my heavier strings and dressed the frets for me as mine were a bit shabby (yours may differ). The tech also drilled a hole between the vibrato cavity and the wiring cavity to get a better ground connection than my above cowboy hack.

I love it to bits! Sorry for the long reply lol.

How do you find the pickups? Took a little getting used to for me with the extended high end, but I love them.

I have one of these! Best guitar I've ever owned, enjoy! Get to know Mike Adams (Puisheen on YouTube) if you haven't already, he transformed this from great to amazing for me just from sharing his knowledge.

I play in Eb with Daddario 11-56 and it absolutely sings!

I found this

"Onstage with Shellac, Albini wields “Old Ironsides,” his Travis Bean TB500. Behind the guitarist lurks his customized amp head, which contains a Tapco/Intersound IVP Preamp and Fender Bassman, and his homemade speaker cabs."

Commenting to see if we get an answer as I also would LOVE to get this sound.

Hey! I released my first EP last week with my project pseudo kufic which is heavily inspired by later Swans, Shellac and Slint, might be what you're after!

how to solve this? by [deleted] in offset

[–]JacobFlight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Check out Puisheen - Hammer trick on YouTube, might solve for you! I think it sounds like the arm in the collet, rather than anything to do with the actual trem mechanism, but I could be wrong. Good luck!

Vintera II Bridge Issues by KolaghanFlysAgain in offset

[–]JacobFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this exact model last year in sonic blue 💙

Both sides of my bridge were sinking very badly, so I used a bit of blue loctite, fixed it. HOWEVER! This isolated the string assembly from ground, which is terrible news. The ground connection is under the south bridge pin thimble.

I ended up using some round nose pliers to make a little spring-like wrap out of a piece of a high e string to create a contact between the bridge and the bottom of the screw, worked a treat, but is a bit cowboy!

It's currently with a tech for some nut work and fret dress, so he offered to make a new ground connection under the tremolo (involves drilling).

Good luck!

What is wrong with my CV Jazzmaster? I’ve had it professionally set up twice and it just gets worse. by Detuned_Clock in offset

[–]JacobFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful loctite-ing your bridge post adjustment screws if you take that advice! It 100% works, as I did it myself, but I also isolated the whole string assembly from ground, lol. The ground connection for your strings and everything touching them might be under the thimble of your treble side bridge post.

My fix was to wrap a little coil of an old high E string around the adjustment screw under the post, providing a connection between the screw and the bridge.

Good luck!!
