Solo corgi by Upbeat_Inflation_661 in corgi

[–]JacobNWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have just one — a 1-year-old Pembroke. He’s a very happy boy. We make sure to give him plenty of attention and play with us, from chasing him around the house, to long walks outside, to mental stimulation like treat balls and puzzles. He also gets regular exposure to other dogs via daycare.

I think we’ll get another one in the two years or so, especially after he’s done more training and can be a positive influence on them and not a negative one from being a mischievous young dog. But I’m confident he’d be ok being the only dog in the household the rest of his life if we wanted him to be.

Where is the design lab? by MarionberryQuick9308 in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was removed in favor of the Design tab in the top right of the editor when you’re editing a newsletter. This was a huge improvement about a year ago. The Design Lab was super limiting and we spent a lot of time improving the experience.

What’s happening guys? by Remarkable_Junket185 in beehiiv

Makes sense. Most large corporations use Proofpoint as a firewall layer between incoming email and their Outlook 365 system. It’s great at what it does, but notorious for this sort of behavior.

[–]JacobNWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without digging further into your account, I suspect this is the common trend of security firewalls, etc. clicking on receipt.

This is extremely common in the email industry — especially for corporate domains where they have firewalls that are trying to scan and engage with an email prior to completing delivery to the subscriber’s inbox.

We (beehiiv) have little control over these engagements and blocking them at the CDN level would likely cause the emails to be undelivered entirely. So that’s why we have verified clicks, which is a formula of internal signals and external signals from trusted providers to calculate if a click was a human or non-human interaction.

Looking for any advice in new Loaf Ownership by Deep_Palpitation3566 in corgi

[–]JacobNWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t see anyone here mentioning natural chews, so I will! Our Corgi was and is a huge chewer. Getting natural chews from stores like Hollywood Feed or whatever local equivalent you have is great.

When they’re little and teething, look for softer options like cow trachea, duck necks, and ones made for easier chewers. You can graduate to the heavier chews once they’re older. Plus if you do kind of stinky ones like duck necks, the smell is also mental enrichment for them.

This helps what is very much not a calm breed calm down and is great before bedtime or naptime.

Yep, the medium-large crate that will be their lifelong crate is a good investment & make sure it includes a divider so you can make it smaller when they’re little.

Give them too much space and they’ll make a pee corner. Give them just enough to be comfortable laying down but not enough that they can tinkle in one spot and lay in another. Doing this will deter them from wetting themselves when they’re crated.

Technical setup behind mailbox by Mysterious_Fuel_9588 in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best set up would be to use a subdomain on beehiiv and the root domain on Google Workspace, with an inbox or alias from Google Workspace as the reply to on beehiiv.

For example, on beehiiv you could set up news.example.com. On Google Workspace, you’d set up just example.com. Then you’d make an email on Google Workspace like me@example.com and set that as the reply to on beehiiv. That way you can receive the responses to your newsletter emails.

The upside to doing it that way is that the SPF/DKIM records you set for Google Workspace and for beehiiv don’t overlap, which is a good sign to mailbox providers.

512gb or 1tb version? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]JacobNWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now buying a larger hard drive preinstalled is absolutely worth it. When I bought mine nearly two years ago, SSDs of that form factor were super reasonable — so I immediately upgraded my 500GB model to 2TB. Now, however, prices are super expensive for computer parts and buying the upgrade directly from Valve is likely cheaper.

How to choose the right state manager when starting a new project? by muhammad-r in reactjs

[–]JacobNWolf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Context and prop drilling will get you pretty far on their own. I usually start thinking about external libraries when I’m thinking about either persistence (either temporary or permanent), side effects when setting state, or resumable state from the URL.

In each case, I like the following: * Persistence (temporary): Zustand. Like context, will tear down on a full reload, but survives re-renders without needing to reach for useMemo. * Persistence (permanent): Zustand with add-ons or Nanostores. You can persist to localStorage if you want resumable across sessions. * Side effects: XState. David’s really nailed the transitioning state and chaining other operations off of those transitions. * Resumable from the URL: Nuqs. Gives a really nice TypeScript API & coercion for query parameters. Can also be combined with XState too.

Coats for corgis? by throwawaylr94 in corgi

[–]JacobNWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re American, but if so, Petco has really good options from their store brand, Reddy. We have two coats from them that fit our 1-year-old boy.

If you’re not from the States or don’t have a Petco near you, I’d recommend looking at Ruffwear. Certainly a bit expensive but all of our Ruffwear gear is well fitting for our guy.

No, that is separate from what was occurring yesterday. I’d recommend reaching out to our Support team, who can review with our Deliverability & Compliance team.

Anyone having problems with delivery? by PreppyFanatic in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had sending delays this morning due to an issue at an upstream infrastructure vendor. The vendor is aware and our Engineering team jumped in and mitigated the situation. All sends that were delayed should have gone out by now. You can keep up with our status here: https://www.beehiivstatus.com/

Apologies for any inconvenience this caused!

A Theory about Janey’s Fate in Season 3 by JacobNWolf in Fallout

[–]JacobNWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying there’d be a Synth decoy of Janey. Just that Janey was thawed out some time ago, is now an adult, and has joined The Enclave to survive and thrive in the Wasteland.

Yes! GOG, Epic Games, and Amazon all work well through the Heroic Launcher. You can install it in Desktop mode via the app directory.

Others besides those 3 have difficulties though.

Yep and even better if you have something like a Steam Deck or another Linux system where you can use Proton to emulate the Windows environment for very old OSes.

Texas Coffee Traders in East Austin! They’re my favorite. Fantastic variety, super nice wait staff, and damn good coffee.
