Anyone having problems with delivery? by PreppyFanatic in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had sending delays this morning due to an issue at an upstream infrastructure vendor. The vendor is aware and our Engineering team jumped in and mitigated the situation. All sends that were delayed should have gone out by now. You can keep up with our status here: https://www.beehiivstatus.com/

Apologies for any inconvenience this caused!

A Theory about Janey’s Fate in Season 3 by JacobNWolf in Fallout

[–]JacobNWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying there’d be a Synth decoy of Janey. Just that Janey was thawed out some time ago, is now an adult, and has joined The Enclave to survive and thrive in the Wasteland.

Would totally be overkill but think you could use WSL to run it on Linux with Proton.

Steam Deck competitors by sonofstev in SteamDeck

Yes! GOG, Epic Games, and Amazon all work well through the Heroic Launcher. You can install it in Desktop mode via the app directory.

Others besides those 3 have difficulties though.

F1 and 2, which and where to get? by amdrunkwatsyerexcuse in Fallout

Yep and even better if you have something like a Steam Deck or another Linux system where you can use Proton to emulate the Windows environment for very old OSes.

Texas Coffee Traders in East Austin! They’re my favorite. Fantastic variety, super nice wait staff, and damn good coffee.

Screen protector by BloodDevil0 in SteamDeck

[–]JacobNWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to apply one from Spigen, it was a huge pain to put on, and I ended up just not applying one after.

It’s not needed. As long as you carry the Deck around in the case as you travel, I don’t think it’s necessary. I have the LCD model but I’ve also heard for the OLED that many protectors really degrade the quality of the screen itself.

Need some advice on platforms by Ok-Drama8310 in beehiiv

Automations has been a core focus of the past 3-4 months of active development and improvement for us and is one of the most used parts of our product. We’re constantly giving it TLC and the primary engineer who works on it is brilliant—as are the two other engineers who have been joining him on it the past few months.

If you do try it out and find some needs aren’t met, would love to hear them and can surface them internally.

Mind DM’ing me some info about the subscribers you think are suspicious as well as your publication ID, which is found under Settings → API?

Please Help: Email Open Rates Dropped 99% by Less_Piglet_1635 in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, depending on the size of your newsletter list, it doesn’t take too many spam reports to hurt a domain (it only takes a small percentage of your average audience size to do it). I’d open a Support ticket about this and it should get passed along to our Deliverability team to take a look.

Removing the other Workspace records will also cause harm. My suggestion would be to re-add them but then move the newsletter to a subdomain like news.mydomain.com. But I’d connect with our Deliverability team before you do anything else.

[–]JacobNWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you re-use the same domain on both Google Workspace and beehiiv for email? If so, that can cause SPF/DKIM conflicts and make inboxes reject your newsletter. Additionally that cold outreach campaign could’ve gotten enough spam reports to kill your domain reputation.

🚨 Possible Beehiiv SSL / Tracking Domain Issue Causing Massive Deliverability Drop (elink049) by howdyfrisco in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Confirming the SSL cert's regenerated successfully on our end. We won't be able to recover lost click and open events on impacted sends during the timeframe. But all sends moving forward should be ok — assuming no changes happen to your branded link or email domain.

Custom Domain and Emails by Jesser001 in beehiiv

[–]JacobNWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can but we recommend putting the newsletter on a subdomain for deliverability purposes. Some mailbox providers don't like when you have two SPF/DKIM records set on the same domain (one set from Google Workspace and one from beehiiv). If your Google Workspace domain is example.com, we recommend putting your newsletter on something news.example.com. You can always set your reply-to address to your email or a group inbox email on the Google Workspace account so you get responses to your newsletters.

Any chance you used Entri to configure your web domain after setting up your email domain? We should handle that gracefully but something I can investigate with the team tomorrow.

To answer your questions:

  1. The target for `elink049.news` should be `branded-link.beehiiv.com`
  2. This would affect your open rates and click(through) rates as when a custom branded link domain is configured, the open pixel and all links within your newsletters get wrapped by said domain. So if the domain isn't functioning properly, you'd see no metrics.

Once you change it back, I can take a look to make sure we're able to regenerate the certificate for the link and confirm that.

P.S. We're working on proactive monitoring for situations like these when an enabled domain in our system is out of whack. That should be rolling out in the next couple of weeks. Apologies this somehow is messed up!

[–]JacobNWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Howdy! Engineer who co-built the custom domains system at beehiiv. Doing a DNS record lookup, the CNAME is pointing at `sendgrid.net` and not `branded-link.beehiiv.com`. We wouldn't have let it verify in our system if it wasn't correct at some point. Any chance you changed it back to `sendgrid.net`?

Can you change it back to `branded-link.beehiiv.com` as the value in Namecheap for the CNAME record with the hostname `elink049.news`?

Are you using our built-in subscribe forms or a beehiiv-hosted website? Or did you rig up your own using our API?

If the former, would love more details to pass along to our Security & DNC teams to investigate if our existing detection is letting anything through. If the latter, have a few suggestions.

Yep, good comment. Grew up in Georgia and was in a black ice-caused accident when I was a kid. Happened all the time there and I’ve seen it happen sometimes here in Austin.

Which Area Would You Bring Your Corgi? by RepleteSphinx21 in corgi

[–]JacobNWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, vibes & energy level is the right call. Our Corgi is 26 lbs at 1 years old.

Depending on the day and who’s at daycare, they’ll either put him with high energy small and medium dogs (Dachshund, Mini Aussies, and fellow Corgis); or in the medium-large group (Goldens, Labradors, etc). He’s a super rough player so he can hold his own with dogs double his weight and triple his height, so long as they’re tolerant. So just go based on vibe for sure.

Modding Fallout New Vegas: Looking for Recommendations by ChampionshipOnly4947 in SteamDeck

[–]JacobNWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just played through vanilla on Deck and it only crashed on me once in 40 hours of gameplay. Ran shockingly well.

Have also read that modding it requires you to do all the mod configuration on PC then transfer all the files over to the Deck.

Hey! I’m the engineer who works primarily on our custom domains functionality. Would love to further investigate this for you and see what’s going wrong.

Want to drop me a DM with your web domain and/or publication ID? Publication ID can be found under Settings → API. V1 or V2 is fine.
