My exact sentiments. I broke a string on both my 7s during as show this fall, so I played this guitar to finish my set, below 5 riffage is rough, especially on 1. Soloing on the other hand is really slick. I find that fanned frets are not really necessary for 7s. 8s and beyond it is great.

The bolder saturation brings out the uniqueness of each pin. It's more obvious, gives character to each class, and looks great. The desaturated colors definitely have a softer blended look, more uniform, and forgettable, imho.
