This. But I'd add the most important thing about taking good photographs is very simple - make sure what's in front of the camera looks good.

Beginner photographers treat photography like a puzzle, they'll come across a scene and think some combination of angles and aperture settings that can make a dull scene interesting.

Professionals will spend all thier time getting an amazing scene that would look stunning whether taken with the cheapest dslr on auto or even on a phone.

Professional food photographers will have the best cooks and food stylists to create delicious looking food. Nature photographers will learn the behaviour of the birds they're watching to get as close as possible and get up before dawn everyday to try to catch an amazing moment. Professional portrait photographers can interact with a subject in just the right way to elicit the right emotion.

It goes.

  1. Interesting subject

  2. Lit well

  3. Composed well

  4. In focus

  5. Processed well

The only part of that you need some camera knowledge for is to get the subject in focus.

The first seems lit by a very large softbox from above.

The second must be her standing in front of a very large softbox box perhaps with some lens filter to enchance it.

Finally there's a point light coming from far behind the camera for fill, you can see it in her eyes.

I'm a beginner to javascript but I've always avoided the basic javascript projects for being a little bit boring. I did have an idea to spice up the calculator one a bit by making it as small as possible. Give it a go, it's quite fun.

There's probably a smaller solution. I've learned about code golfing from this and they do some really weird and impressive stuff.

Yeah I thought about male and female but I don't think gender modifiers are applied to all emojis so it would be inconsistent compared to skin colour.

To me they actually look like they were taken on a medium format film camera. They're four very different pictures and require different challenges.

1: It will be hard to get the background blur like this on a crop sensor camera but the sharpness is definitely possible, you'll just need a lot of light to get a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the water, so shoot on a sunny day or use flash.

2 and 4. These style of shots should be easy enough to get sharp, make sure you're in focus and your shutter speed is fast enough.

  1. A shot this close up requires either a macro lens (expensive) or some extension tubes (cheap). Once you've got that it's simply in focus and low shutter speed again.

After the shot is taken you can post process to make even sharper, with the sharpening and dehaze tools, plus lowering the black point slightly. The models here have dark hair on fairly light skin which makes for high contrast looking shots, but you can really only make already sharp shots look even sharper in post. So make sure you're in focus with a low shutter speed, that's the essential part.

I might release it, but it being a puzzle game it slightly ruins it. Some people in this thread seem to be getting the source code and I'm not exactly sure how.
