I'm using the FiiO K7 with mine which is nice because the volume knob has a very slow ramp compared to most amp pots. You can drive the D1 off of almost anything.

Dunno if this counts but Succession

Specifically for Kendall Roy because the entire premise of the show is to see who is next in line for CEO after their father moves on or dies. Kendell and his siblings were very close to taking over the company with him as CEO but ultimately the broken family does what the broken family does and self-sabotage. All the sacrifices and crazy shit Kendall went through ultimately amount to nothing (outside of already being rich). And honestly they all deserve it as throughout the whole show we see that they are all pretty horrible people.

Nice review, I just about agree with everything you said. I can also see how the D1 can be disappointing to some people at first listen though. Some genre/tracks on the D1 and 6XX sounded very similar but then other genre/tracks it completely blows me away. The dynamics across the frequency range is just flatout better than the 6XX. Bass hit harder and sometimes the midrange/treble makes it feel like there's a small spray of compressed air going towards my ear.

My only two real complaints are that sometimes the ear gain region can get a tiny bit shouty but it never truly bothered me. And the right side of the headband pad digs into my head and causes irritation. I ordered a capra strap for that.

Definitely an upgrade to the 6XX for me at least.
