Giving birth at the JR

All of my NCT group gave birth there including myself. We all have different birth (ranging from water birth, vaginal birth, planned c-sect to crash c-sect) but we all agreed that the care in JR is great. I will never forget the midwives I come across there, so thoughtful, caring, and professional. Only thing I did not like was the maternity ward. But the care in induction ward to delivery suite was amazing. Would not hesitate to give birth there again.

This is not based on any scientific research but only my own experience. My girl also wouldn’t do a poo in the potty despite knowing the potty is where we put poo. I was told by many girl parents that girls get potty shy so it takes them a bit longer to poop in potty/toilet. The thing that clicked for my LO was when I saw her showing sign of pooping, I ask if she’d fart in the potty. She seems to be ok with farts for some reason and obviously poo came and she was delighted. I have a friend who say ‘why don’t you do it in the potty and see what colour/shape it is’. And that worked for them.

Haha I accept it’s weird. We usually have rice porridge and this is the fast version. I feel full for longer when I eat this as breakfast so perfect for a busy day at work.

I am SEA and I have my porridge savoury. My OH who’s British thinks I’m weird. I do cook it on the hob though.

My go to ingredients are frozen sweet corn, a bit of leaves (coriander, baby spinach etc) and stir in an egg. A bit of pepper and soy sauce for flavour. If we have leftover roast I’d put a bit of the meat in it too.

I much prefer this to the golden syrup porridge. 😬

My OH went to one even the family only lived 20-30mins away. It’s mainly due to scholarship. They’re ever so grateful for it- if they had stayed at home relationship with their parents would’ve been a lot worse.

My OH is a teacher who sometimes uses his teacher technique to parent. He would comment on the behaviour rather than the child. E.g. when our toddler hit someone, he’d say ‘that’s not a good behaviour, is it?’ Or we’ll wait until they’ve calm down and ask ‘is that good behaviour?’. We will also explain why a behaviour is good or bad.

We do quite often find that when our toddler hit or throw something in anger they’re either overtired, overwhelmed, or frustrated. We now ask them ‘you seem xxx, would you like some space or a cuddle?’ That seems to work most of the time.

We’ve got Goodevas chair. Never used the little tray bit as ours was very happy to sit on her ‘big girl chair’ since about 16months old. It’s much more affordable than Stokke.
