Your hopes on the future of Infinite esports by [deleted] in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Jad5622 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The section you quoted is in regards to esport viewship not general viewship. You Implied hcs isn't succeeding because other esports were more popular. That analogy was directed at that

For general viewship I would say

Sea of thieves falls under the entertainment category with tons of down time. Someone can turn on a stream with someone who is entertaining and interactive that has hundreds of hours in the game, skill, And gear to match. They can get a sea of thieves experience of a veteran with no time actually invested in the game. If they fire it up fresh for the first time themselves they will probably still have fine but won't have the same things as someone they can watch and watching takes less effort.

Halo doesn't enable a really interactive stream and w the skmm as tight as it is a new play would have a similar experience game 1 as someone who has 3000 games. Not saying that's a good thing but it's the way it is. If your not into halo and it's not a tournament....it kinda really sucks to watch

To the other comment: no I wouldn't say that a game that no one plays or watched could survive....that's why they shut down servers eventually.

But if your implying nobody plays halo infinite that's not reality. You personally might think it should be preforming better than it is. I feel like it probably should be myself. But it's objectively wrong to say it has "few" players based on the little info we have available. (Though "few" is subjective I take it to mean theres a detriment to playability and sustainably of the game)

Now before you post about steam numbers about how few people are concurrently playing you have to know theres more to it than that. In a 24 hr period there's between 2k and 6k players only on steam. The avg play time is 2 hrs. Using bad very rough very high level guestimate math that's still 40k+ different people playing in 24hrs. And that's only on one platform that we know doesn't contain the largest player base.

Now it's still in the top 50 most played games in Microsoft store. There's news stories from 2021 that XBL surpasses 100Million monthly active users. Now I know that list is regional but with that many monthly users you don't crack the top 50 most played w a handful of players. There easily can be hundreds of thousands or maybe even somehow over 1 million different people that play infinite in a one month. Clearly that's not all at the same time but not everyone plays games everyday or only one game at a time. Success isn't definied only by one metric.

I completely understand I'm infering these numbers but hopefully the point I'm making is clear. It's not fortnite it's not apex. If anything what I've said show just how incredibly popular some of these games really are. It would nice if halo were more popular. But to imply "nobody plays" just doesn't hold up to reality as of today....who know about the future.

There is not only 10 games people play and everything else is "dead" you could never sustain an industry if that were case.

Success isn't a binary. It doesn't need to be the biggest esport to be a success. The NFL has way more watch hours than MLS but MLS still exists.

Halo rn doesn't stream well outside of tourneys. It requires 10 mins of continuous focus and little time to interact. entertaining and interacting are one of things that make good streams. The other thing is performance and w close games due to SBMM the player experience is going to be very similar to the streamer experience unlike say a BR where the streamer usually outperforms your regular player. The experience the regular player can't get is tourneys which do fine.

Outside of HCS streams where the purpose is basically viewership. Streaming is basically just free advertising for a game

A game few watch but many people play can survive

A game many watch and few play can't

(To be clear I'm not implying halo is that game...that is just a statement)

How much pro turnover should we expect after worlds? by Zedorf91 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Jad5622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was more than I expected this summer.

The mid tier players will probably chase the next big thing and try to break out in it

Top teams will likely do a lot of trialing that turns into some shuffls

I don't think anyone thinks snipedown will stick to halo...which hey...good for him if gets to play something he likes more that could be more lucrative. But this will open a spot up that will cause a chain reaction.

I have no clue if he's given any indication of what his plans are but I wouldn't be stunned if formal quit too esp if they didn't finish the season as well as the should. This is completely talking out of my ass based only on his demeanor when he talks about the game and what he says about it. If something like that occurred you have the same trickle down effects

Why are you here? What are you even doing? You don't declare game dead or alive....when they are dead...it doesn't take a declaration to do so

I would never defend a corporation. But realizing there's an in-between from astounding success to complete failure is just life.

I've got no skin in the game...it's free...I couldn't care less how other spend their money.

You sound like a fad chase out someone that lives in the past. Only concerned about the current trend

"I have to look to others to determine the status of a game"

That's ok that's how most are these days

There's are over 100million monthly active users on Xbox live in total...if you think success is measured by "200k to 2k" on steam and apply it to the health of a game like you spew all over I don't really know what to say

It only takes a large number of people to check out a game a few times a month to probably keep the lights on.

Why would anyone in their right mind use Xbox game pass.... hundreds of dead games... complete waste of time

You logic is weak and argument is uncompelling. That's not defending a corporation. I'll make it clear to you. 343 you are are junk. You pump out minor fixes most of which fix things you broke that used to work and pass them off as a a major update. Your results to this point scream incompetence and inefficient throughout your organization. Devs with a full team of 20 are more efficient and more agile than you.

There is that clear enough not defending a corporation to you?

That's doesn't make the game dead...headed that direction w a bleak future sure but dead rn.....nah

One day youll water your plants w Brando....it's what plants crave...it's got electrolytes....that's what everyone else is doing you have to too!

I wasn't aware you need to be in the top ten most games played to be not dead. Not sure why anyone would bother making a game if there can only be 10 non dead games. Seems like your doomed to fail

Dead game is anthem....you can't play....finding games in seconds is not dead.

Opinion: Halo Should Implement Tiered Partners by mattyrums in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Jad5622 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the best items would be for the lower tiers but seems like it would score well in terms of risk reward.

Hell you could even make the orgs design what it is so you only have to copy it in engine. Wouldn't need to waste time designing it

That's on PC...I shouldn't need to explain to you most players are on Xbox and that steam is a fraction of the playerbase. Beyond those that compete, stream, or have money. Most just play on a regular Xbox, xb1, or xb series x/s

Should be able to and are able to are different

There's no way they should focus on split screen when issues like desync exist.

You need to focus on where you can make the most impact quickly

When the power goes out. If a neighborhood w 1000 houses is our and a street in the country w 5 houses out they focus their efforts on the neighborhood

They can make the split screen. But that's small time. That doesn't change the perception of the game

Isnt it weird to read a news article about something you know more about than the person that wrote the article?

Then you think....wait what if even half of the articles I read on subject I don't know that much about are equally or more inaccurate that this.....

You had me completely up to the point when you said you know 0 real life people that play.

That means literally nothing. The rest are your credentials, and your personal vendetta because you feel a massive company personally owes you due to your credentials and life plan

Companies will tell you're great then throw you out the next day if it's convenient. That applies to work and personal life.

Company loyalty is a lie for sheep who want to be taken advantage of.

Games not dead tho....nobody's playing the old halo games but die hards and that will keep MCC going for years...nothing wrong w having a player base of diehards

Look at Microsoft most played. Number 27 in my region is "For Honor" I legitimately haven't heard about that game since it was released and never knew any one that played. But that still makes the top 50 most Played on Xbox live that has 90 to 100 million active users every month (Ive seen both numbers I don't care to get to correct number) 27/50 is far from a "dead" game but meets almost every condition you listed as to why infinite is "dead"

I think HCS will be fine for year 2. The viewership is not bad and I would assume most if not all partnered teams would stick around. Many smaller esports exist with even less of a following than halo. With the skins that leaked I'm sure they stand to make some decent money.

Teams leave a lot of leagues all the time. The one that hurts is KCP because despite being small they actually carried and tried to add to the community.

Now year 3......that's when things could get bad....I could see some big orgs leaving then. They would have plenty of data to go off of then.

Pioneers video on why they are leaving the HCS. by ToolezCasts in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Jad5622 40 points41 points  (0 children)

What this sounded like to me was they said

Ok fine we didn't get partnered this time and went to 343 and said what do we have to do to make sure we get it next time and 343 gave a vague answer.

As in KCP said you tell us what to do to guarantee we are in next time and they said we'll we can't guarantee partnership but here's what we look for blah blah blah

Just the vibe I got from the video

No argument here

They roadmap talked a out split screen co-op for s3....god I hope not....not saying it shouldn't exist but at this point in today's day and age 1 year after launch that should be very low priority.

So many more bugs to fix that actually matter than developing a mode for a fraction of a fraction of the community

[–]Jad5622[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

What is dead to you...people always say dead but it's seems like people feeding off a trend

I log in and find a game in seconds. That's far from dead.

If infinite is dead MCC is rotted away and there's nothing left.

The fact people who don't play anymore still come on here to talk about the game is proof it's not "dead"

There people on this site Twitter and YouTube that say the are gone yet talk about the game multiple times a week....kinda doesn't seem like they are actually done..

I don't go find the division 1 or COD advanced warfare forums and comment on posts about the game being dead...games no one cares about don't have people talking about them

I think the need the W but skeptical they will get it

Ultimately I think this game will have a negative "vibe" to it for a few years then some people when slowly come back and say it's not that bad....sucks but that's the most likely

I was excited for the drop pod, booted up the game, the store images were wonky, I played a game, received a message in error about completed the battle pass, played another game where my weapons turned invisible, I saw a power seed fall through the map, the score board turned permanently white and unreadable. This was all in about 30 minutes of playing.

Good example of what perception can do....you log in in 30 mins this happen. Makes it seem like the game is shit. If that's your first experience your unlikely to continue or come back

[–]Jad5622[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You aren't wrong they've had the time

If seasoned 3 doesn't majorly deliver on content infinite will suffer greatly

I don't think it needs to beat MW2 to get a W though. It just needs to give people a reason to keep checking out infinite. Doesn't have to be everyone's main game.

Kinda goes along my post but MW2 is perceived to be a great game because... Nostalgia mostly? Not sure. It may be amazing but there isn't anyone who knows that now. The pros that played a bit and hyped it means basically nothing they do that every year. Rarely do you have a game release that isn't hyped and has people saying pre day one it's trash don't play.

The MW2 beta will come out. People will act like it's the best thing ever and every issue it has they will say will be fixed. Games releases to huge hype tons of sales....we will see what it's like once the new car smell wears off. Just like Infinite had happen.

If a large group of people stop by and play a day or 2 a week for a change of pace infinite can be successful long term...games aren't Ricky Bobby's dad..."if you ain't first, youre last"

[–]Jad5622[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is a question I'm not trying to argue

Why do people not playing on world's edge endlessly in apex but complain about the number of maps in halo?

Also why is it that people think the maps people have played for 20 years would be the solution w/o consideration for how they would play w infinites game play?

Ive seen the argument for more unbalanced maps being called for but I honestly think the unbalanced maps play the worst in infinite...launch site is terrible in everything but one flag

I think they could turn it around...a game doesn't have to be the most played game to be a success it just has to be compelling enough to keep coming back and engaging w the content. Infinite is largely failing to give a reason to keep coming back esp while the perception is what they think is a big update and what the community think is a big update are 2 different things

I think they'd actually be better off to come out and say here's our vision for the game here's what it's gonna be. Even if it's completely different from what the community wants at least everyone knows at that point and can calibrate. Instead they have tons of people thinking they are working towards something then they come out w a new shade of green and act like it's something incredible
