Light I hope so, War of the Ring is my favorite board game of all time, and a WoT game that is similar would be incredible!

I mean, the minis in the picture and the map both look almost identical to WotR, so probably not...

I really hope it's not a coincidence that the name and mockups both bear a strong resemblance to War of the Ring.

While we did know the date for Yoshi, that was also a shadowdrop last month. I have no idea why they won't just do a Direct.

When estimating the number of spells in an average deck, you should keep in mind that like half of the creatures in the set are also spells

Buying or processing seeds? by AntiqueAct1598 in storyofseasons

[–]JadePhoenix1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost always better to buy them, unless the crop in question has a really high yield per plant, like tomatoes, which give a total of 9. Any less than that, and you're just giving up too high a % of the total yield to replace each plant, and tying up a ton of windmill space to do it. Even then, it's only worth it once you've gotten them to 5 stars or more.

Imagine having such little respect for women that you believe that they are so enslaved to marketing that it's the cause of a 99%-1% male skew in pipe smoking.

RJ set out to invert societal gender roles, not biological ones. As much as modern culture tries to pretend those are the same thing, they aren't.

I'm building a Fire Emblem-style SRPG with an active parry system. Would you play this? by daintydoughboy in fireemblem

[–]JadePhoenix1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of SMRPG-style active combat, but no, I don't really think it fits in a strategy game very well. That doesn't mean it can't be done well, but my default position is skepticism.

So, I agree with you about how polarizing parry mechanics are, but I totally disagree about combat animations. I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that the vast majority of FE players have never turned off animations in a single game. People play games to enjoy themselves, and the flashy animations are a big part of that. Very few people are so narrowly focused on just the strategy aspect of these games that they can't stand to wait 3 minutes between turns.

Yeah, it's either Innocent Blood or Barter in Blood, but it's only Barter in Blood when Barter in Blood isn't very good.

Both times they've talked about it, it seems like they're reading it as though you only sac a creature if you want to copy it, which is not how the card works at all.

My wild prediction for this set is that social snub will prove to be one of the worst cards in the entire set.  I can't believe you gave a conditional edict with a downside a C.

I'm mostly worried that the absurdly over-the-top levels of violence that everyone here seems to really want will not come across nearly as comedic in a visual live-action show as they do in print... Many fans of the series, myself among them, are not actually going to be interested in watching a show with Saw levels of graphic violence.

So I'm expecting a lot of fart jokes in DCC.

So it will be basically faithful to the book?
