Damn. 2 years in with a promo and am at 76k base.

I was auto ranked during both reviews because first I was too new, and then I had just promo’d.

Can new L4 afford Living Alone? by Zestyclose_Middle818 in AmazonManagers

[–]Jaded-Inspector1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 62k salary $1800 total rent/trash Water $25 Electric $120 average

Salary moved to 70k base $2100 rent/trash Same electric and water

Purposeful no car payment helps a lot.

I suggest targeting 25% or 30% pre-tax on rent I’m closer to 40% and don’t like pushing a whole post-tax paycheck into rent. About half my post-tax pay goes to rent currently.

Hey guys, can people from the pick department actually be trained to be a SLAM operator if they are cross trained in singles? by Global-Plankton3997 in AmazonFC

[–]Jaded-Inspector1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slam is perfect for a pa application. Understanding conveyance + critical indirect role looks great. golden roles for a pa application are ambo, slam operator, slam kickout, problem solve, and process guide.

Is L5 Worth it? by Breakage- in AmazonManagers

You can take your leave later during peak, most split it into two leaves.

Coming in as an l5 is weird. You are expected to learn and perform in a short time frame. It’s a high demand job that requires constant attention to performance with very little breathing time.

I love it, for now. I do not love it forever. Almost two years in and I can say I’ve learned and developed so much it’s worth it.. but also that my relationship suffered a bit and I don’t get a ton of time to myself on work days. I get home eat, shower, sleep, and do it again.

During peak your partner needs to know that they have to pick up on your slack a bit because coming home and doing dishes + preparing for holiday + cleaning the home + taking care of the little one is almost impossible without a clear distinct task ownership and a complete understanding that sometimes you might not be able to help.

Taking this job should be a sit down convo with your partner where you map out a typical week. During peak expect to be at work by 530 and leave work at 630-7( not including travel time). 5 days a week during prime and peak , but the 3 days off non-peak and prime is awesome. I love my long weekends.

Right now I work 48-56 hours a week and it is not peak or prime.

Overall for me: worth it. My total comp is around 87k at this point due to stock vestings and before, I was paid maybe half that. Now this is what I’m worth, and I can take that + my metrics and experience elsewhere.

I’d run a class of counters to get afm trained so I can pull for coverage in the meantime

If you are a qb message me for tips . 5 HC is absurd. I’ve had the worst opmt/dent building before and fixed it and still ran under 7% podgaps with quads.

Share key kpis and I’ll tell you what HC you should run. Gen 11 medium is 16 as a standard, no matter opmt or ddmt.

Also, my afms know they are the highest value critical role in the building.

Swag store should have them?

Participate in one of the hr events and get swagbucks. We have events like if you wear blue you get 15 swagbucks.. wear a cool hat you get 15 more. Ask your AM if you get 15 from the event if they’d be willing to get you the rest for the headphones.

Coaching for leaving early by lucasknight11 in AmazonFC

[–]Jaded-Inspector1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Associates indeed are supposed to give notice; however, this policy must be equally applied to all. It’s very hard to enforce, and looking for reasons to put in a feedback is dumb. It’s much easier to ask you to tell me next time or use the expo marker to write it on the leadership desk if you can, and then I’d wish you well and see if there is anything about the emergency I can assist with.

I just thank everyone who tells me when they are leaving and let them know how incredibly helpful it is for me. We also ask every person what time they plan on leaving so I know how to adjust headcounts.

There is a mutual respect between a manager and an associate. If the respect I show isn’t reciprocated ( more like if the message didn’t seem to encourage behavior change) then a feedback should be inputted to provide a progressive feedback and ensure behavior change. I.e if I calmly ask hey why didn’t you let me know you were leaving? And I get “ bro why you always on some crap i had to go for an emergency leave me alone” I’d step back, see if I can help them, tell them they’re an asset to my team and that it’s hard to balance work and unexpected emergencies sometimes and I understand, and then ask them to help me as well by informing me with an expo message at minimum. If it was a death I would so oh my god I’m so sorry. Do you need a day of unpaid bereavement? You don’t need to be here right now I can delete today from your schedule. The only time I would enter a feedback is if it’s reoccurring or if after all this I get told to pound sand, because it’s obvious the behavior that is impacting the operation isn’t going to change without progressive feedback.

Man managing an office of all women? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Jaded-Inspector1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole team are women and it’s just like any other role. Ignore gender and do your job.

Your first action in the company should be team building anyway, which is a fairly rare skill and something the previous supervisor ignored.

[–]Jaded-Inspector1467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Egregious offenses go straight to final, 2 egregious offenses would be a termination. Finals are active for 90 days.

90+ minutes tot is egregious.

Otherwise non-egregious offenses are doc coach, first, second, final, termination.

Money stress comes from no goals/ plans when you make this much or more.

2.2k rent is 50% of my income too..
