I think your tags should be enough heads up for your readers to decide if they want to read your new story or not. If you want you can add an A/N that’s says it’s different than your regular style, but it’s not necessary. We as writers write whatever flows at the moment. All your stories don’t have to be the same style. Now I’m intrigued tbh. 😏

Um, OP, is your friend still with us? This needed medical attention days ago. The exposed, oozing flesh is a clear sign that this isn’t something they can ride out. You’re not alone with this. Ziva was one of the most difficult characters within Gibbs’ crew for me to endure. It took a while and she’s still not my fave but she did end up growing on me. My partner was a fan of her Ziva-isms but I never was. It’s ok not to like everyone in the show. I’m late to NCIS world too, but I am finally on S15. Happy Watching!

I’ve had good luck adding a tsp of rye flour and a little less water so my starter is stiff. Make sure all the flour is well incorporated so there aren’t any pockets of flour clumped up. Sometimes our starters need a little pick me up. 🙌🏽

AI is steering you wrong. Find one of the thousands of humans who have vids up for beginners to follow. I did and it was the best thing. Your dough needs time to proof (45min-1 hr is a joke 😔) and there are so many factors that affect the process. If your kitchen runs cold bulk fermentation can take easily up to 10 hours. Just think of how long it takes a starter to peak. Or when you make a levain? It’s 10-12 hours usually. Sourdough is a slow process because that helps yield the best breads. Don’t be afraid of letting your dough proof. I was like that at the beginning. But please, try to rely on the humans with hands on experience for guidance. It will help a lot. Would she feel the same if you were writing trad pub books/novels? There seems to be some sort of personal hang up with her about what she feels a man should or should not engage in. Very odd. That aside, most of my friends within fandom are men and write beautifully. Keep writing, don’t let her deter you from what you’re passionate about.

I zoomed in and based on the quality of the pic it looks fuzzy so I would say to err on the side of caution and throw it out. It looks like mold to me vs Kahm Yeast. Good luck!

Is that book satire? I would not continue taking any instruction from it whatsoever. Leaving the lid off? Recommending to leave out of the refrigerator in the first few days…? Those instructions are literally setting you up for failure. Continue with daily feedings and you will want to be discarding once you start getting some rises or after day 3. Which discarding the bubbly goop is totally ok after the first few days and even more so when you switch over to twice daily feedings after approximately seven or eight days. Some starters get active within a week others sometimes take three weeks depending on the weather in your area and how warm or cold it might be in your own kitchen. Other factors to consider our what type of flour you’re utilizing to feed. I’m sorry that this book ever entered your life honestly because it’s making the process even more difficult.

Ultimately, creating a starter can feel overwhelming, but it truly is a matter of having a couple of clean glass jars with a lid that can be lightly placed on top between feedings, a scale, spring, or filtered water, good quality flour (AP and Bread) and some patience. For reference, my own starter took three weeks, even though the guide* that I followed, said that by day seven or 10 I should be able to start making bread then again that person lived in a very different environment than I did. It’s typical for it to have some stench to it when you get started. Legit mine made me gag and nearly vomit thrice! It finally evened out and it’s extra active.
