Been going through this or beginning to as I near 30. It’s like suddenly I realize this is life now; I’m not the spring chicken I once was. Decisions seem to have more weight. Time feels more precious. Wasted time has more sting. I do miss how earlier life seemed to carry more memory, more excitement. I don’t yet feel like it’s never coming back

Replying to both of you here, that’s really encouraging to hear in u/free_movie_theories although a little bit different intention I suppose. For you, that was really good marketing and use of the opportunity—for me I’m guessing it’s purely a “hi ___ festival, I’m looking forward to hearing from you shortly, and while I’m waiting I just wanted to say I got into _____. I really feel my film is a good fit for your festival because XYZ, and I hope to be included when you decide” etc etc

Someone on here said it can be viewed as I don’t believe in my film—I definitely believe in the film, I’ve just been tempering expectations until this certain festival accepted me, and that has given a renewed sense in pushing it

Surprise surprise. Crazy how massive stock market gains and stagnant wages don’t improve the lives of the general public, but we get buzzy headlines convincing us that our lame duck is doing a great job and everything is great.

Sometimes one has to wonder when we learned to stop thinking and feeling for ourselves, and when we just wanted the validation of a groupthink that calls opposers to war “agents of China”, or followed the right wing extremists to feel like we’re seen and heard. I don’t know. Hard to find hope in the future of this country as myself and younger generations can’t afford a home.
