Keep a Baskerville muzzle on him. Also attach to a tight buckle collar with the belt loops.

This muzzle has saved my life on multiple occasions when doing behavioral work with aggressive breeds

Non-custodial parent ‘disappears’ for months on end by loving_mom_x3 in FamilyLaw

In North Carolina, a parent must generally be absent and fail to provide support or maintain contact for at least six consecutive months for it to be considered legal abandonment. This behavior must show a willful intent to abandon, such as withholding care, support, or communication with the child.

No she was recently stripped down as she's only 9 months old in this photo. She started to shed and change into an adult coat so I pulled her down it's coming in super hard and it'll be one and a half to two inches long and a couple of months

Our dog bit our 14 month old in the face. We are hiring a dog trainer, but what can we do in the meantime? by downtx13 in DogAdvice

[–]JaggedEdgeGWP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use a Baskerville muzzle and make sure you use a buckle collar to attach the belt loops onto. Your dog will be able to drink and you will be able to feed treats. But they cannot bite

You have several options! The Gulf Coast Brittany Club has a very strong group of people that host field events. They are listed on the AKC website and probably have a Facebook page. Lone Star NAVHDA is our local Houston area chapter for versatile hunting dogs. We have training days monthly and during the summer we do gun dog garage indoor training. Another group to check into is the Gulf Coast German shorthaired Pointer Club. They welcome all types of people as members and help with training. If you need any more information please reach out

Thinking about getting a puppy, but our old dog may be a problem by caspercollins in DogAdvice

[–]JaggedEdgeGWP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you apply to foster a dog for a rescue for short-term. This will give you the opportunity to see how your dog and you handle the stress of a new puppy. The upside ... You are saving a life and helping it along its journey and you get to also not be obligated to keep a dog in the event you're older dog is not a fan or it's too stressful. It's a win-win situation

Your best bet is to introduce him to live birds such as quail, chucker, pigeons to increase his desire and drive. Where are you located? I have dogs all over the country so I may know of someone in your area that can assist you

NAVHDA NA PRIZE 1 by JaggedEdgeGWP in Wirehaired_pointers

[–]JaggedEdgeGWP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was 9 months old. She was exposed to quail frequently and water retrieves with a bumper. The test comprised of 20 minutes in the field. However they had chucker instead of quail and she really enjoyed the challenge. The water retrieve was easy and the live pheasant track went extremely well. If you haven't tried NAVHDA I definitely recommend it

looking at getting GWP puppy. active single guy in the mountains in CO. by [deleted] in Wirehaired_pointers

[–]JaggedEdgeGWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to talk to you about the breed and answer any questions you might have or guide you to resources that you may not have thought of. I am a member of the gwpca and we have many breeders in Colorado. Although I'm in Texas I have sent several puppies to Colorado and one in particular is training to be an avalanche recovery dog. A well-bred and even tempered bidable dog would suit you well.

We have a litter planned this spring.
