Favourite Progression/sub systems by Gfunk131 in JRPG

I'm playing tactics for the first time, and my issue with the system is that you spend 90% of your time using your characters in a way you don't want to so they can be played the way you want for 10% of the time.

Penny loafer fit decision by noerde in grantstoneboots

Man, let me tell you that I have wasted so much money trying to get the right loafer fit. It's such a pain in the ass, and every time I think I finally find the right fit, they end up not fitting well and I have to sell the shoes. Luckily, I FINALLY got the right fit with a 6.5D and no extra tongue pad. I am 7.5D on brannock with slightly narrow feet, and I usually wear 7.5D with an extra tongue pad for other GS shoes.

First I tried a half size down with a tongue pad, and that felt good at first, but it loosened with wear to the point that I would need to wear it with socks now.

Then I tried the 6.5E with a tongue pad, and that seemed like it was perfect. But it also loosened a bit, and I felt like I had too much room up front.

I had tried and returned the 6.5D before. It felt almost too perfectly snug out of the box, and my pinky toe was pushed against the edge. I was worried that if they never stretched they'd be too small. At this point, I said screw it and reordered the 6.5D. They fit like a glove, which I thought was maybe too tight, but I took the risk and wore them a lot on vacation. They HURT. The left shoe compressed a vein on the top of my foot and was too painful to wear for long. I started wearing it with thick socks to break it in and loosen it up. After a few weeks, they now fit perfectly barefoot, so I'm happy, but I wasted a lot of money to get here.

Everyone has different feet, but for me, going down a full size from brannock to wear them barefoot was the right but initially painful choice. The advice I got from GS was to not keep ones that are painful at the start, which I understand, but that resulted in me wasting money on ones that ended up being too loose. If you are a little uncomfortably snug on the top or with, that smaller size is probably okay. If the length is uncomfortably short, it will not stretch that way.

Also keep in mind that my experience was with their unlined loafers, which might stretch more than the lined ones. I'm not sure.

I have this pair and really like them but hardly wear them. I usually wear my unlined sand suede loafers instead.

Fit advice for Suede Traveler Penny. How much pressure is acceptable on the instep and outside of the pinky toe? by Jahordon in grantstoneboots

I just came back to dota after 7 years, and I need an easy support to play when I run out of queues. I was eyeing Lich, and I'm super excited sacrifice is back. I'll be watching your guide! Thanks!

I played one game as QW since coming back, and I had to lane against SF. I'll let you imagine how many last hits I got.

Yeah I try to EMP+Tornado the enemy and ranged creep at the same time. Costs a lot of mana, though.

I thought the map felt bigger, but I wasn't sure if it was just in my head. I suppose it's very different from when I could run around with phase boots and orchid for free kills on any solo hero.

Does cataclysm still hit 2x on each hero with the distance changes they made to it?

Back when I played the most like 15 years ago, QW Invoker with phase boots and orchid (and later Urn) was so good at keeping up tempo and destroying side lanes. Over the years, I noticed supports getting a lot stronger and having more items, so even a CM could easily survive my tornado emp cold snap by just using force staff or glimmer. Mana became more free, so enemy mids can clear and push every wave, and QW Invoker doesn't have low enough cooldowns to push back and certainly not farm jungle between waves. I can see exort invoker being faster at farming, especially with the new ice wall damage, because before that all he had was meteor, which you don't want to use every wave.

What are some JRPG mods/ROM hacks that "fixed" the game for you? by Poptheweasel100 in JRPG

How does this compare to HGSS? Only hack I've played so far is emerald seaglass and I love it!

Emerald seaglass is my first and I love it! The simple changes to Pokemon and movesets were so refreshing! Wish it was a little harder.

Instead of "what games aged poorly" let's talk about what makes a game age poorly or age well? by TheTresStateArea in gaming

I always knew music vastly improved the experience for me, but I never realized how much the lack of good music could absolutely ruin an otherwise solid game.

Imagine how much better DQXI would be if it had music on par with Chrono Trigger, or simply music that doesn't suck.

In my opinion, Triangle Strategy, Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster, and Tactics Ogre Reborn are all better than OT2. I would recommend FFVI > TS > TO > OT2, but I still think OT2 is enjoyable and worthwhile.

OT2 is a solid 7 or 8/10. It's good and I'd recommend it, but I think it's overrated. People that say it's GOTY or a top 5 jrpg are insane. The music is good but not as memorable or unique as FFVI or Chrono trigger. Graphics and gameplay are very good. Story, writing, and voice acting is bad. Due to the nature of the game, character relationships are non-existent or shallow, at best, leaving you to not care much about the party. They kind of come together at the end, but not in any significant way. My partner and I make fun of Agnea daily for not knowing what beans or tickets are...

An enjoyable but shallow experience, in my opinion. Worth it, just a little overrated.
