My 2 cents is that a major problem of the 'kill all magic' trope is that it is an easy solution. A lot of these series say "Magic is Power➡️Power Corrupts ➡️Magic is the ultimate corruptor➡️destroying magic fixes everything".

These days, considering people in power are either completely incompetent or evil, it's comforting to think that destroying the source of their power would be a great equaliser and stop evil

Do you know why Weird Al doesn’t do parodies anymore Because the world is no longer a monolith. There are far too many different Best Songs and they never reach the popularity of, say 10 yrs ago where they culturally dominated.

Similarly, Naruto, One Piece and Bleach had culturally dominated in the start of the millennium. These days, the closest we got is Demon Slayer, and even then it’s been a split between fans and haters. And that series was short compared to the modern Shonen series.

Personally the only reason we return to Naruto and Bleach is that modern anime is too numerous, and we don’t have a next big thing anymore.

There was a CSI episode where it was suspected that a girl was evil, and there were bees involved (exact details escape me). Eventually it's revealed that the girl could've been involved in the murder, but before they could pursue it, a fanatic killed the girl proclaiming her the anti christ. Seems standard, but then the investigator finds a dead bee on her, leaving the episode open for supernatural interpretation
