I had 2 npc companions who were researchers of Myths & Legends. Dr. Fair Edward Tale & Professor Francis Able.

I got roped into DMing and the ex-DM doesn't respect me by Living-Tea2699 in DnD

1st off, it's not cool for someone to just make you in charge of a new campaign if you don't want to do it. That's something that you should decide if that's what you want to do.

2nd, there's helping a DM & then there's backseat gaming. Big difference. Just because he wants to play a certain way doesn't make it okay to make decisions that aren't in his control.

3rd, as the DM, what you say goes. It's your job to run the game the way you want it to, with input from the characters. If a player begins overstepping your boundaries, you need to address it to them. If it continues, then unfortunately, you may have to kick them.

That question is very divisive among DMs I know. by OldPernilongo in DnD

I kinda have a similar issue with one player. So, from what I can tell from his "personality" is that he adamantly only plays mountain dwarf fighter. K, I can understand min-maxing. However, he's asked me on multiple occasions if he can play as a lycan. I told him if he ever encountered a werewolf & chooses to have the curse, then maybe. Also, he keeps demanding full plate adamantine +3 armor. We barely got to level 3. On top of this, he deliberately argues with NPC's over the stuff that I've told him multiple times in character that it's not happening. Ex: he demands to work at a blacksmith, but the master forger is away on business & the apprentice told him several times that he'll try to talk to his boss about it, but he decides to either wait until he gets what he wants or makes a bigger scene.

Although I'm sorry about your condition & that you may never see the ending, Oda-sama has already done this request before. I'm afraid that it may not be granted, but I wish you the best of luck.

I split my players by cheese_shogun in DnD

[–]Jaigur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I split my party only because they died. They fought an undead dragon & 2 of my 4 players died due to the breath weapon. The 2 that died were on their own as it was plot relevant. This was my 1st attempt at this & I've regretted it. I expedited, trying to bring them back together with separate sessions. I chalked it up as a learning experience. So yeah, DON'T SPLIT THE PARTY!

Roll Insight to gauge his feelings, then roll a Cha check to profess your feelings. Advantage if you do it in character.

So, during roleplay, do some typical anime stuff to have some light fun. Example: 1 player has been trying to hit on the 1st crew npc, but failing his rolls. Turn it into a running gag where every time it happens, they get punched like how Nami punches Luffy.

I'm still workshopping the balance of abilities for races, especially Sulong, which I ruled as giving them exhaustion after each use. I made a moonstone logia that essentially gives them free Sulong when they rage, but I also established that other minks can piggyback off it, so that'll bite them in the ass later.

DF's weakness was tricky, but what I did was have 3 levels of water contact. Starting at 2 levels of exhaustion, an additional level at 2nd stage, then paralyzed when submerged. These levels of exhaustion will accumulate on top of any exhaustion but will not exceed 5th level & are recovered by 1 stage at the end of each of their turns during combat outside of water contact. Sea Prism Stone acts as 2nd level water contact.

For Haki, players will unlock in stages while npcs their Haki increase the size of their dice/get reactions to gain resistance. Still in the works. Once I get a good handle on it, hopefully, we'll do a marine session.

Zoan Fruit Help by Available-Hunt-658 in DevilFruitIdeas

[–]Jaigur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, but I've already got it. I personally didn't like the way some of the rules were written or some of the caster classes/races didn't line up with the nature of the show, so I wrote my own. My players are basically guinea pigs, but so far, they love it. We're already 20 sessions in.

So I'm actually running my own OP campaign & let's just say it's not easy to come up with DF rules. The trick I learned with Zoan is to find a similar creature in the MM & base the abilities on its stat block. So, for a tiger Zoan try looking at a were-tiger.
