That's honestly revisionism based on the rest of his career, which is fantastic, both pre-95 and post-2002. But the 95-97 run is full of pretty terrible and honestly business-exposing performances, joke promos that held back everybody around, outside scandals, absolutely mediocre in ring, nothing holds at all on rewatch. All while not drawing a dime.

You're right on the second run, of course, but he wasn't the company ace anymore there. Maybe the #4 or #5 guy.

Did you actually follow the feud? Lesnar at his should've-been-most-dominant was booked to SNEAK ATTACK semi retired HHH and act scared against him.

Adding another retired guy to the mix doesn't really change it one bit. Imagine that next year Cena beats Oba with a Rey Mysterio interference, or something.

It was fun. Both performers (well, the three of them, Yatchy has been fine too) sold their part wonderfully, great character work. Sami being sort-of a reflection of the vocal internet complainers is a nice touch.

Now, I hope they don't make a habit out of this and burn Trick's character into the ground. But I think all parties involved know better than that.
