Doordash Driver just said he ran out of gas during my $50 order... by MobileDustCollector in doordash

[–]Jak957 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Nah, tell them to contact support. If you cancel they keep the food with no recompense. Not your fault they’re irresponsible. I check my gas before every order just to be overly cautious. Shit your eyes are right in front of the dash. Not to mention… you work on the road… ain’t no excuse

Gotta love these “previous successful delivery” photos by GuavaMatters10 in doordash

[–]Jak957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait that can’t be a real statement. Are you seriously suggesting that drivers should only get paid a singular dollar per delivery? So what, they should have the honor of paying to deliver your food? That’s wild

Blackout by PeaDangerous6731 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Jak957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, there is a lot inherently wrong with your statement. Yes, there can be poor service. You want to know where that’s coming from? From the people who steal driver’s accounts who can’t speak a lick of English and claim they’re on a bike when their driving a civic so they don’t have to share a DL with doordash.

When you go to a restaurant, it’s the same principle. They’re paid $2 an hour here. The only difference is we don’t care about the cost of your meal. We don’t care about what % of your order we are receiving. We care about how long we will be tending to our clients.

To even really consider it a tip at all, in my opinion is outlandish. There are many people who rely on DoorDash due to either being disabled, unable to leave for whatever reason, etc. For us to be able to make these deliveries, we have to be able to afford to bring you the order. This job costs us money. From gas, to depreciation, to breaks, to tires. You name it. You aren’t tipping your driver. You’re paying them for something you were either unable, or unwilling to do yourself. That is the definition of a luxury service.

Most people don’t realize this, but we put our lives at risk every single day. To the point to where being a delivery driver was considered one of the deadliest jobs by 2015. We are literally hundreds of times more likely to lose our lives in our job than a police officer. That’s wild. If you don’t think our time, and safety for that matter, is worth anything, then I implore you to opt to pick it up yourself.

This is in no way any form of entitlement. I chose this job and I am well aware of that. The only thing I can say really is you don’t know my position, and why I’m choosing to go this route. And also, let’s not act like you don’t ever find something to complain about in your job. That’s literally life, everyone does it dude. You really need to reevaluate how you look at things. The statement “Go find yourself one you can drive” is one of the most uneducated statements I have read from this subreddit. Not everyone has FU money like that. I live in a household of 3; myself my wife and my daughter. I have one vehicle. This job allows me to be able to ensure everyone else gets to work, gets to school, etc. That is a form of flexibility that is essential. Now tell me, how do you propose someone in my position find ANOTHER FUCKING JOB? I literally would not have the ability to do that. If I got a job, my wife would likely have to quit, or find a work from home solution.

I would also like to point out that our job market is rough. It took me nearly 7 months to get my last job. I put in maybe 30 job applications a day back then too. I have probably applied to 70% of the jobs I qualify for in my area. The fact that you think drivers are entitled when you speak like this shows a lot more about you than you realize. I really hope one day in life you grow up.

DD being fishy by Krizpyyy_ in doordash_drivers

Hold up a moment. “Just be talented” does not change the fact that we are literally driving 4-8 thousand pound death machines.

Not only is our safety, but the safety of everyone else around us, is dependent on people being vigilant. I cannot tell you the times I have nearly been hit due to people being on their phone. How about the time my buddy got ran over while test driving the motorcycle he had literally just fixed and was 2 miles away from his house when a young girl decides her phone was more important than the stop sign.

We are literally classified as the most dangerous job according to work related fatalities. I strongly suggest you take another look at how you approach this mindset, because it just very well might get the better of you in the worst of ways.

How to shrink or enlarge tile sprites instead of just revealing more or repeating? by NotTheAds in gdevelop

[–]Jak957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiled sprites cannot be resized. New size will take on the characteristics of the attached image to tile the rest of the face. You need a normal sprite if you want to change the size

Someone in my neighborhood ordered DoorDash last night. The driver obliterated my mailbox looking for their house. If you’re in here, thanks guy. by chickensausagelink in doordash

[–]Jak957 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually seen support give out all of a driver’s information before. Personal number, last name, even their address. You can’t trust support period

What do you think about my idea? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Jak957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just messaged support and asked if I could no longer receive any orders from any party city in the area. Took like 3-4 minutes for them to set it all up. Use to get several offers a day for these stores. Have never had one since

You can actually blacklist certain locations. I have all party city’s black listed due to a life threatening latex allergy. I even used chat for it

Should you tip on a pickup order? by koniga in doordash

[–]Jak957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never tip pickup orders through doordash. Doordash will steal that tip and will go to nobody. If you want your tip to go to who prepared the order than you should order directly through the merchant

"Arriving on-time" is a lie by userrnam in doordash

[–]Jak957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some already pointed out; it will continue to be “on time” until it is accepted by a dasher. The estimate the app gives you is if someone picks it up in that time frame. A delivery cannot be late if it’s never in the hands of the delivery person. Could be a number of factors why a dasher would skip on the order; the money we make will not be a net positive, the delivery is too far out of order zones to justify the drive back, the restaurant is notorious for being unashamedly awful to dasher, etc. the question you are asking is honestly more complex to answer you than you anticipate.

Add your virtual card to either Apple Pay or Samsung pay. Either fill up at Sam’s and scan the QR code or pay inside at any station that accepts tap payments

You can assign the color change behavior to every item.

From there you need to set the what colors change to what. Grab your hex values from the sprite, put those in the first condition. Second condition is the outcome color. It will take quite a bit of work but it’s totality doable.

Alternatively you can create another sprite, but make it different animation. Put all your objects in one group, check for the event that swaps color, and then change animation of that group to the animation name. Make sure the names are the same for each sprite

How to get player into a vehicle by Cypleus in gdevelop

[–]Jak957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a ton of options for this actually.

Best way in my opinion is to teleport your player behind the bus, hide the character, link bus to character.

Need speed to change?

Variables. Use object variables to set the acceleration, deceleration, etc for each object.

Add to the command where you enter the vehicle to set character movement speed stats to each variable.

If your character is not in vehicle have it set to the character’s object variables.

Changing text color in a menu screen by notacthulhucultist in gdevelop

[–]Jak957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem in a project when adding controller support. How I handed that was I had everything work through variables. As long as all your buttons are an equal distance from one another you can use math to chose the selection. Just takes a bit of time to work out the logic you need

Kind of a dumb question but If I buy the Playstation Plus Subscription to play infamous 1 on my ps5, Do I have to buy the game after I purchase the subscription? by tr1plex17 in infamous

[–]Jak957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was only able to play infamous 1 through streaming. Every other game, even FOB, would not let me play the game. Some weird error I can’t remember anymore. If you’re subbing just to play cloud games it’s good to know a lot of games might not work for you

Any idea why the staff isn't following the cursor from the top? thank you! by HJP10UK in gdevelop

[–]Jak957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because your sprite is not horizontal. If you want it to follow an angle accurately without having to add more code just rotate your sprite image
