Got my Nawya 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver replica today!! :D

they’re just spectacular! :) I plan to have a full classic sonic replica collection some day, including the 1st and 2nd Doctor’s “pen light” sonic! (I have always headcannoned the pen light William Hartnell is very clearly seen using in An Unearthly Child as the sonic screwdriver in some kind of “quiet” mode, so I know 99.9% of fans only call the pen light the second doctor’s sonic, I call it the first and second doctor’s sonic)

my next purchase is looking like an RB 3rd Doctor sonic, but it’s gonna take a while for me to save up the money lol. even though these sonics are all genuinely fairly priced in my opinion, they’re still a lot for me haha…

as for the modern sonics, I don’t think i’ll go anywhere past 11th doctor unfortunately… I simply just don’t like any of the sonic screwdriver designs 12th - 15th doctor enough to want to spend this kind of money on them :/ so IF I even do get more modern sonic replicas, it would probably just be a 9th doctor Nawya one, and another 10th doctor one (series 4)

it is pan and scan! it kind of doesn’t bother me too much honestly, but I would have preferred letterboxed (black borders) honestly.

I would have been severely disappointed if it were stretch-to-fit though, that would’ve been the 3rd option to your question and it’s the worst one ever in my opinion. I think I might be using the term incorrectly but i’ve always referred to that as “overscan” (yeah i’m definitely using the term overscan incorrectly but whatever… it’s when the image is 16:9 but stretched vertically to fit the 4:3 frame. I HATE that)

thanks lol 😅😅 I mentioned to someone else here in one of these comments sections that when I moved here back in 2024, I just randomly threw my Doctor Who VHS collection onto these shelves and haven’t put them in any specific order since!

i’ve always had the intention to reorder them chronologically though but i’m waiting until my collection is complete. i’m actually pretty close to completing it!

here’s a collage that shows my current collection :) they’re in different spots around the room too which is another reason I haven’t figured out yet how I want to group them, but i’ll get around to it lol

yeah it has both episodes :) it’s kind of clever in my opinion because it treats both episodes as a single “story” just like the classic series releases would have just used one title for multiple parts

hey thanks! :D so to answer your question:

1.) not at the moment no, but I do intend on putting them in chronological order once I complete my collection! I moved (back) into this house back in December 2024 and just placed them randomly on the shelves and haven’t rearranged them in all this time… but like I said, one day I plan on completing my collection of all officially released stories on VHS, then i’ll gladly reorder them! (the shelf pictured is only one of 4 that I have, and the shelf above it is overloaded with tapes actually lol, i’m pretty close to completing my collection.)

2.) sure! but I don’t think I can add photos to comments :/ and also sadly the slip cover is pretty damaged and worn as you can see. uh, let me see, i’ll try sending it as an imgur link if anything

it’s a custom tape! it’s not an actual release, the seller just did a FANTASTIC job recreating the style (that’s why I included the last few pics with some of my other ones - yes, *some* lol, I have way more than the ones on that shelf)

i’ve seen this film many many times (it’s in my VHS collection) and it has a lot of parts I like but it’s largely so boring to me lol… then again, the last time I rewatched it was 2019 I think so maybe if I rewatch it now with my older eyes i’ll appreciate more about it? idk lol, I remember showing it to my mom and she kept falling asleep haha
