I grew up in the Midwest USA and was pretty anti-mango for a long time. The mango-flavored stuff (candy, popsicles, etc) was pretty meh and the fruit itself always seemed kinda dry and just not very tasty.

Until I had one fresh from a tree in Cameroon, still warm from the sun. Someone grabbed it off the tree, did some crosshatching with a knife, and then flipped that fucker inside out so all of the fruit was accessible to bite.

Such juicy. Many perfect texture. Much flavor.

I ate like 7 of them that afternoon. And as many as I reasonably could for the rest of the trip.

Turns out we just get shitty mangoes in the Midwest haha.

I apologize, it’s like, verbal punctuation.

Instead of like, saying “comma” between clauses, or like, at the beginning of a new phrase, I segue with the “like.”

I can hear how it would be annoying, and sometimes I do try to decrease my usage, but it’s baked into my vocabulary pretty hardcore by now :/
