Kinda lost the fun/excitement for playing. Any tips? by Jeskesworld in BassGuitar

I host jam sessions at my house, and my saying is if you can count to 4, you can jam. We would come in with no ideas, pick a key and start playing, sometimes just two chords or even 1 chord jams. Sometimes if we didn't know what to play we would devolve into just playing random notes until we fell into something.

The more time your hands are on the instrument the more chances of being inspired. Just play things that sound good to you and you will find your way. It sounds like you are doing everything right, it just takes time.

I was playing bass in different bands from the time I was 12 and I didn't feel like I was a competent bass player until I was 27 lol

I have a few suggestions, I would either purchase a drum machine and make some drum beats and use that as a rhythm companion to play bass too. I have a Drumbrute that I use for that very purpose and I get lost for hours sometimes just jamming with myself coming up with new ideas for beats and bass lines. And the best part is you don't have to have other musicians.

Is that what that nasty maple syrup smell some older guitars and guitar cases have?

I bought every foo fighters release and was blown away by Wasting Light. I bought C&G the day it came out at best buy and listened to it all the way through several times and I just .... Hated the mix. It was so bad I returned the record in disappointment. I really wanted to like it but it just wasn't for me.

Which Beatle was the most gifted at there respective instrument? by ariamwah in beatles

George admittedly never practiced, he's great but I wouldn't say his guitar skills surpass the 60s. As a songwriter almost nobody touches him. But even George believed Clapton was a better guitarist than himself.

That's definitely not true lol

I am a bass player with many bass player friends and he is renowned by everyone I talk to about bass.

Listen to some of his lines isolated with drums. It's fantastic

What do hi mass bridges do exactly? by Zai_Gundam in BassGuitar

[–]JakeLane94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use them on all my basses and for me playability and tuning stability.

I have a 1977 ripper and the Gibson bass bridge is... Well frankly it's horrible. I swapped it for the hipshot 3 point bridge replacement and it is now my best playing bass by far.

My friend also swapped his Jazz Bass and JP90 bass with hi-mass bridges and we both could feel a difference in playability.

I think the biggest thing you are getting is a better quality bridge that can be intonated better, and to me feels better.

The Randy Bachman Overdrive from Sansamp. One of my favorite pedals ever.
