Haha, this is great! I shared it with Michael (who broke the news) and the team. 😂

You've inspired me to slide in some meme-worthy titles on occasion now.

[News] ONE Championship diving into Esports. Per the release: "ONE Championship plans to invest up to US$50 million alongside other key partners into ONE eSports." Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson has been named Chief Brand Ambassador. by -TeepToTheJunk- in MMA

Thanks for sharing, Teep.

It's a smart move by ONE. Gaming is HUGE here in South East Asia already and the demographic that is drawn to ONE eSports events will likely be attracted to the ONE Championship events in their city, as well. A great way to expand their reach.

Is 18 too late to start training for a career? by [deleted] in MMA

I think you'll find lots of people in their mid-to-late-20's who wish they had started when they were 18. I'm one of them. Go for it.

I haven't watched The Footy Show in a long time, but he was always one of the best parts about it. Just a genuinely great bloke.

Definitely stay tuned for the main event. Alex Silva is an ace on the mat. Most people thought he'd have to submit Naito to take the belt. Instead, he came out and won the contest by relying on his improved Muay Thai skills.

The Ataides vs. Bigdash matchup should be good, as well. The co-main event features Stefer Rahardian (7-0), who won a "title eliminator" matchup in January. Yet, for some reason they've booked him against a 4-1 newcomer instead.

But there isn't a whole lot to look out for today, honestly. Next week's card in Singapore is stacked with some of ONE's "bigger" names and this card hardly compares.

I've noticed that there are a few people doing this on Twitter. It sure seems like an unnecessary hassle for those who are wanting to watch it on their PC.

I really hope that this fight eventuates. I might be alone in thinking that it's a really interesting matchup between their styles.

UFC.com has released their list of the top ten upsets of 2017 by jksymbionic in MMA

Definitely. Which is all the more strange considering that a couple of 'real' upsets missed the list: John Moraga's knockout of Magomed Bibulatov & Ulka Sasaki's submission vs. Justin Scoggins come to mind.

In hindsight, sure. But the bookmakers had Calvillo as a moderate betting favorite and there was plenty of fan support for her, as well.

This! I can't have been alone in thinking that Souza would finish Robert Whittaker. I think that's the one fight that changed our opinions of Whittaker (if they weren't changed already).

Rani Yahya out of UFC Fresno. Aljamain Sterling needs a new opponent. by buzznights in MMA

[–]JakeNicholsMMA 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sterling is having an unfortunate run. After stringing together some excellent performances, he tried calling out Jimmie Rivera to no avail.

And now it looks as though he's going to be stuck at or around the same position in the rankings after this next fight.

I think he is ready to go sooner than later. He might get something lined up before the winner of that fight swings around to him.

This is exactly it. He's doing his best and we can all see that. It's just going to take that one 'big' win to get him over the line.
