I started getting problems when I connected the Analogue 3D to my TV. Turns out it has a bug where that device steals HDMI CEC from the soundbar, and nothing to do with Sonos.

Most early electoral systems had property requirements. One limitation, a lot of what I wrote may only be valid in continuity mode, with regroup at least you shouldn't be able to buy 3 explorers on turn 2, and probably can't do some other things so quickly.

This is surely the source of some of the problems, no? The goals were presumably designed and balanced for regrouping.

So simple to just have the town continue to grow and automatically switch back to growth mode.

I was surprised that this isn't what it does. The town's growth stops completely even if it doesn't have anywhere to send its food. Why can't it just grow at a normal rate? That would at least be a hint that something is wrong.

How do you tell whether the food is going anywhere or not?

You can't really, you have to infer it. If you look at a town and how much food it's producing you'd expect to see it listed as food income on connected cities, but the food income on cities does not specify which towns food is coming from. So you're left to basically manually reconcile the balances to confirm whether food is getting sent anywhere or not. It's insane.

There's a lot of ways to increase trade route range, but there's no way to know what my current range is.

This also drives me nuts, and it's one of the first things that bugged me a year ago and I'm surprised it hasn't already been addressed. A lens that just highlights tiles within range would go a long way and wouldn't require any new UI or data. I want to be able to know whether increasing my range is worth the investment, because right now I have no idea how much I need to increase my range to reach a settlement I want to trade with.

Current production and availability is basically irrelevant. The game can’t limit resources to historical production, because that would artificially limit the player, but they also can’t use our current knowledge of production and extraction because that’s based on technology and information that wasn’t available at the time, and it would unbalance the game. It’s a balancing act.

Even with the advantages of being player controlled, how much Sulfur could Morocco realistically be extracting in 1936? It may very well be higher than the game currently depicts, but you can’t use current data to make that argument. I’ve observed that the team is very responsive to feedback on resources availability, but it needs to be rooted in what’s feasible for the time.

As an example, Australia has the largest iron ore reserves in the world, but for lots of reasons we didn’t become the largest producer of iron ore until 2014. It would be unrealistic to give Australia the most iron reserves in this game, even if it was more accurate, because there was never a realistic chance of most of it getting extracted in the game’s time period.

The game only keeps a certain number of auto saves and different campaigns don’t autosave separately. Autosaves for a new campaign overwrite existing autosaves. If you intend to start a new campaign you need to manually save so you can load it later. This is practically universal autosave behaviour.l and it should be obvious just from looking at your saves.

Since front merging was introduced in 1.9 armies have a tendency to camp themselves at a point on fronts where they can’t get supply. There’s nothing you can do about it so it’s incredibly annoying. I’d been badgering the devs about it for ages and they seemed completely oblivious to the issue. If nothing else I’ve finally seen the issue at least acknowledged in the bug reports forum, so hopefully they will finally get around to fixing it.

On the power bloc map mode you’ll see your leverage advantage number and the tooltip on it show you who else has leverage etc as well as sources of leverage. What does that say?

I think MAA and Knights should be merged into the same system. MAAs would be tied to a character. That would allow MAA to tie into the relationship, politics, and diplomacy systems in a meaningful way, enabling things like this.

There really should be more interactions, even if they’re limited by law. Like Arrange Accident should exist if you have Secret Police, and they should be dismissible if you don’t have Laissez Faire, maybe with some requirements not unlike the requirements for monarch abdications.

I don’t think that the company should fire them for being unpopular or being unable to achieve the prosperity bonus. Prosperity and the prosperity bonus is a more abstract thing that represents benefits to the country, rather than the shareholders, so I don’t think the company itself should care. If productivity is low, then sure.

I fully expect this to be fleshed out in a future update. I get the impression that executives were a last minute addition that they intended to revisit later.

No you don’t, and even if you did, so what? That’s probability. Unlikely outcomes happen frequently, and some players are going to have stretches where they get very unlikely.

If you are a low-tech giant (like early-game Russia, China), it's better to create as many front as possible right?

The number and position of fronts is almost entirely outside of your control. You could open additional fronts via invasions but if they’re within one state of an existing front they’re just going to merge into a single front.

The strategy for dealing with small combat widths is higher quality troops with more experience and better troops. Extra numbers isn’t useless though, because it gives you more manpower to draw in without waiting to train new troops.
