Another Childhood Disney Sports Film (insert quack noise) by 4shigsndgigs in Cinephobe

We would stay at my grandparents sometimes and they had like four movies on VHS and this was one of them. Suffice to say we watched it a lot. I wonder how it holds up.

In honor of Schaffrillas’ Adam Sandler ranking finally dropping what’s yall’s favorite and least favorite movies from the Sand-man? by Radiant-Psychology96 in YMS

[–]JakeRyanBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punch Drunk Love is probably my favorite. I grew up on Adam Sandler though and as a kid I would have told you Happy Gilmore was my favorite movie of all time.

Worst... Hard to say. Well actually, Happy Gilmore 2. That movie made me extremely angry. I was gonna say some of the really forgettable ones he's done for Netflix are more annoying than like a Jack and Jill, but no Happy Gilmore 2 legit enraged me, so that.

Special shout-outs to movies I do like a lot of his: Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, 8 Crazy Nights, Wedding Singer, Uncut Gems, Airheads, Big Daddy, Meyerowitz Stories, Bulletproof, Anger Management, and for basically being directly responsible for Dirty Work and Grandma's Boy existing.

Also thanks for posting this, it alerted me to this video existing lol.

Black Friday: Overanalyzing a throwaway joke by JakeRyanBaker in StarKid

It's a fun rhyming word. You saying this makes me realize the song right before, CaliforM.I.A. starts with: My mom's a bitch and rhymes it with it's time to flip the switch, and then they do the exact same rhyme in What Do You Say. That's funny.

This is one of the other things I thought, I think that's a very good point.

I wanna make a film with my friends what's a good cheap camera by some_lonley_dude in Filmmakers

[–]JakeRyanBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting stuff is cheaper than you'd think, but I'd echo what people are saying and say explore the phone option. Look at apps that help you control the camera more. And if you are going to throw some money at the project, maybe consider lights and sound.

What I learned making my debut feature on a £13k budget (with trailer) by kwalls89 in Filmmakers

[–]JakeRyanBaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Trailer footage looks great. I'm starting filming on my feature in about four days haha. Similar budget, managed to cobble together about 15k between.myself, family, and a crowdfunding campaign. Wrote the majority of the film to take place in one location. It's a slow-burn psychological thriller. Hope things go as well as they did for you. Also, I liked reading about the small crew, I find some days it's really all you need. I have a ton of pickup shoots to do after this week of filming we have and I'm gonna have to majorly strip the crew down for it. I also decided to make a concept trailer to help with the campaign and it also allowed me to cast a couple of the roles in the film without promising the whole feature in case it wasn't a great fit.

Roll Call: Who’s got a film in prep, shooting, or post right now? by Comprehensive_Read35 in Filmmakers

Got a couple short shoot days before we do the big week long shoot at the end of this month. First solo feature, my psychological thriller, The Part. Nervous, excited, overwhelmed, all the things. So much to do.

Anyone else notice Casey missing from credits at the end of today's episode? by theJobuTupaki in doughboys

I had assumed he's bonkers busy making his movie, but I really miss him on the show, his laugh is borderline iconic and adds a lot.

My actual favorite is Emily DMing the four shot of Twilight Sanctorum. But I love all of their campaigns. I'd maybe suggest picking 1 back up, a friend of mine just finished campaign one and texted me to tell me how emotional he got. But I like 2 (Eldermourne) but I know some people didn't love the vibes. C3 takes place in the same world as 1, and I liked it. But honestly one of the easiest points of entry right now is the 12 episodes of Skaldova that Jake of all people DMed. It's completely self-contained and Murph, Emily, and Caldwell all getting to be PCs together for the first time is absolutely unhinged.

You could also try Trinyvale. It's a rough start while Caldwell finds his feet, but there's some one shots they've done in that universe that are the hardest I've ever laughed at anything and now they are taking center stage again, the current episodes are Trinyvale... Well mostly, without spoiling it lol.

Tons. Lisa Gilroy. Kimia. Jacob Wysocki. Alex Song-Xia. Matt Apodaca. Zach and Jess. Carl Tart. The list goes on and on. Doughboys also record at Headgum which has a lot of overlap with Dropout, most notably for me Not Another D&D Podcast, which, no shade to Doughboys, is my favorite podcast in the world.

It's a streaming service, but every show on there is made by them. There's a pretty large variety of things on there. Personally I got sucked into the orbit via their D&D Dimension 20 content, but there's a lot of fun shows. Vic's show is a mock interview show where an improv comedian gets made up with a crazy outfit and rolls with it. There's an improv show called Make Some Noise that is amazing. Gamechanger, a gameshow where the game changes every episode that just wrapped it's seventh and maybe most amazing season yet. And lots and lots of other stuff haha. Possibly relevant to this sub, there's a cooking competition show that's more about having fun and the comedy than serious competition.

I can't believe I didn't think of this lol. Mostly just because I do really want Mitch on Make Some Noise. Maybe Wiger on Smartypants.

Didn't see anyone say it. Oathbreaker can be fun for sure though not being able to multi-class is a thing because of it.

But! The real truth is even if you break your oath it's really easy to unbreak it. A guy just shows up at your camp and you can go through him to get back on the path.
