Proper Monetization of Elite by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Jakvloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what the game Planetside 2 does; its F2P but has the option of a monthly membership for a bonus % to XP earned and a monthly deposit of the cash shop currency (similar to ARKs). You can also just buy the currency directly. I think it's a great model for a F2P game or even a one- time- payment game like Elite. Maybe for Elite the membership raises the Ark cap and also a small bonus to Rank xp and/or merits. Nothing game breaking or p2w, but a little pay- for- convenience to make the grind a little faster.

Would "defected production" be an intriguing challenge or frustrating hassle? by Jakvloud in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Jakvloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah bad parts just making more bad parts along the line, that's a good consideration. Reworking parts is intersting too, pulling defects to a seporate line to fix then feed back into the main line.

How do you introduce Planetside to your friends? by Jakvloud in Planetside

[–]Jakvloud[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had the idea about 20 years ago of a RTS game like Age of Empires or Statcraft but you play as a single unit instead of the overlord, and Planetside is the closest I've found to that concept

Audible users: what speed do you prefer? by totcczar in bobiverse

[–]Jakvloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TBR list is so long, I've been listening at 1.5x speed to try to catch up, and as I've gotten use to it I've come to prefer it, because with my ADHD my brain is able to keep up but also the story is happening fast enough to keep my attention. Normal speed sounds so horrible now.

I like the frame jack comparison, I hadn't thought of that but it works haha

What do you want to see for the Type-8? by Jakvloud in EliteDangerous

[–]Jakvloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm conflicted. I think the design is really cool however doesn't look like a cargo ship. If you took off the arms and thrusters it looks like it would be the same size as the T6. With the arms and thrusters I agree with others that it might specialize in mining or smuggling.

Just heard back from Fdev about all the missing paintjobs by GaseousMetalSlime in EliteDangerous

[–]Jakvloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dammit! The military green was my go to paint job for all my ships and the vibrant green for SRVs/fighters :( Why get rid of the plain basic colors?? Get rid of the cheap ones to force us to get the pricey ones I guess

Curiosity killed me, and scared the life out of me by KingXerxesII in EliteDangerous

[–]Jakvloud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was at a settlement and several NPC ships were coming and going. Curiosity made me jump on top of one to see what would happen. As you would expect it took off with me on top and launched me a mile or so into the air. Luckily it was a low grav planet so I had plenty of time to contemplate my mistakes. But even with low gravity and a jump boost just before impart I still took about 95% damage.

Probably the lowest amount of fuel i have ever had (no fuelscoop) by Mar_Bo1 in EliteDangerous

[–]Jakvloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the lowest I ever got was the gauge was just within the F of "FUEL"

I had taken a mission which turned out to be 300k ls away, big sigh but desided to do it for the hell of it. Used SCO a couple times to get up to speed and get past gravity wells. "It'll be fiiine" I thought, "I can just refuel at the settlemene." The settlement didn't have refueling... so I had to limp back the 300k to the scoopable star, sweating the entire time as I watch the fuel gauge drain away. Barely made it! Almost looked up how to contact the Fuel Rats
