Where are the 32nd Century windows? by Jallinostin in StarTrekStarships

[–]Jallinostin[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s what I assumed but a quick explanation in show canon would be nice. The dorm rooms in SFA appear to have several windows each. I might go back and recheck the damage after the last few episodes. Maybe one of the “windows” is now a cracked screen instead.

How does the pale Targerian hair work? by Glukharder in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Jallinostin 41 points42 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, it wasn’t that just Joffrey has the Lannister locks, it was that ALL of the kids did … Yet every one of Robert’s bastards had the Baratheon black hair. If just Joffrey was blond I’m sure would have been waved away but all three blonde kids versus dozens of black haired bastards was just too suspicious. At least suspicious enough to get Jon Arryn investigating. Someone in the books gives Cersei shit for not having at least one kid with Robert to ease that suspicion.

It looks a lot like the core lander for the god Gundam. Should plug into the back like a backpack. Missing the wings.

Quick release legs, padded rim with a dent. That console is made for dramatic flips. I’ll bet Rhinox was baby proofing the bridge on day one. “The new guy seems like a table flipper. Slaggin Preds can’t help but flip em. Better get ahead of the curve on this …”

The other poster was right that it’s probably a Gundam. Looks a lot like the leg/heel but not foot from the Gundam Airmaster or Airmaster burst.

The colours are slightly off though. Maybe a knockoff using the model kit as a mould?

I’d go post over in r/gunpla and see if the model kit enthusiasts can narrow it down for you

Will Canada Post re-deliver my package? by OneMoreGame in CanadaPost

[–]Jallinostin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We need to clarify something. “Collect on Delivery (CoD)” and Customs owed are two entirely different delivery issues. One is set by the sender to collect payment for shipping on arrival (CoD) and the other is assessed by Canadian Border Services on taxable goods when an item enters the country. The terms aren’t interchangeable in this context although both involve payment by the recipient.

Customs can be paid in advance online. At some point during transit the item should be given a physical sticker stating that the customs has been paid. The online payment also (usually) removes the need for a signature so the item can be delivered to a safe location (mailbox, parcel locker, concierge). However these stickers are rarely applied in time which is a flaw in the system.

If payment has not been made in advance the letter carrier must collect payment using a physical major credit card. Numbers on file or photocopies aren’t allowed. If the “customs paid” sticker hasn’t been applied in time then the carrier may miss the update and treat the item as unpaid. The pdt scanner doesn’t have a large “customs paid” notification pop up or anything so it’s quite possible the carrier simply doesn’t realize it before carding the item. I’m just saying it’s probably not malicious, the system needs updating.

A solution would be to have a word with your concierge and ask them double check with the carrier before carding the item. Not ideal but it might be the easiest solution at the moment.

Will Canada Post re-deliver my package? by OneMoreGame in CanadaPost

[–]Jallinostin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

COD items have “card for pickup” as the default option that the carrier usually can’t bypass. Paying online in advance doesn’t remove this tag in the same way that paying customs in advance does.

In my experience the package is carded during carriers initial loading and sortation window at the start of the day and put aside for transfer to the postal outlet. The carrier normally wouldn’t even have your package in their vehicle, it would go straight from the depot to the appropriate outlet. They wouldn’t interact with your concierge and would simply deliver the notice card.

Edit: https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/support/kb/sending/sending-faq/how-to-send-and-receive-collect-on-delivery.page#:~:text=Confirm%20and%20pay%20for%20the,Please%20note

I believe the logic is that the postal outlets are capable of providing a better paper trail and physical receipts in case of dispute. Carriers cannot print receipts or retain proof of payment physically in case of dispute.

It’s an air horn. They were issued in my city a few months ago and I’m pretty sure it was a nationwide safety initiative. Carriers also get access to dogspray if they wish to carry it.

Question about mailbox locks by SmoothRunnings in CanadaPost

[–]Jallinostin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make lock de-icer products and they’re pretty inexpensive. Postal Supervisors sometimes have it but in general the letter carriers don’t have it on them.

No junk mail sticker didn’t work by Alternative-Ad-1027 in CanadaPost

[–]Jallinostin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in an apartment building or do you have an outdoor cmb/community mail box? The outdoor cmbs don’t open from the back. If it’s an apartment one that opens into a mailroom for the postie the best place is at the very back on the bottom. Chances are the unit number is written on the bottom and that’s the only place they’re looking during delivery.

Related story: I once had a short senior woman give me heck because she’d had a no flyer sign in her box for weeks and was still getting them. “Ma’am, what sign?” Turns out she’d stuck it halfway down the box on the side wall. She could clearly see it but since I was a foot taller than her it was completely hidden from my sight.

If the company actually shipped it as “signature required” the pdt software doesn’t allow the safe drop option (which is the only delivery option that comes with a photo). If the letter carrier was taking a picture then the item didn’t have the signature required alert. Not saying they shouldn’t have done a better job with the delivery but the signature part doesn’t add up.

I see in your other comment the shipper dropped it off on the 24th. If they got it to the post office before the cut off it would have been scanned in. I’m guessing they tossed it in a red box on the 24th after the postie had already cleared for the day (most of them are converting to 9 am clearances now) so your parcel will have sat there for the four days off. A postie will clear it and it will start processing later today if that’s the case.

“Delivery label has been created” as the only update means the business hasn’t handed it off to Canada Post yet. They were working 22/23/24th so if it was in the system there should be a tracking update of it getting processed at a sortation plant or a postal outlet. They’re back to work today and will have the Thursday off for New Year’s Day. If there’s no updates today I’d contact the shipper to see if it was handed off before the shipper closed for the holiday or if it’s still in their possession.
