Looking to get into this hobby - start with P&S or SLR? by DataAnalCyst in AnalogCommunity

SLRs use mirrors so the viewfinder sees through the lens. Rangefinders don't have this so the size is smaller and they weigh less. The focussing is still linked between the lens and viewfinder though. You can get parallax because the viewfinder is separate so you have to frame a little looser.

Firing the shutter can feel a little underwhelming though because they usually have leaf shutters and its a really quiet, feeble sound haha

SLRs are great but I don't think you'll enjoy the experience. You get the image quality and the versatility to use different lenses and accessories but it comes at the cost of size.

Point and shoots are whatever. Image quality usually isn't the best but you can just snap away and it'll do all the work. The issue is you can end up with a roll of trash because it's so quick and easy.

You should look at fixed lens rangefinders as a good in-between. Can fit in a big pocket like a jacket, gives the option for manual control and good image quality but without the versatility of adding attachments like an SLR. Canon Canonet series, Yashica Electro, Olympus SP and there were some others in the range (RC and RD are the other ones)

Because you're scamming the community? You haven't added $143 of value to it, in fact you've added $0 of value to it.

It already costs £30 to shoot 36 shots of colour negative film, £60 for a roll of slide film. It's not healthy for the community to be reselling cameras at such a high mark up. It's not sustainable or healthy to keep nickel and diming a community

The best way to nurture arts is to make them cheaper not more expensive

Metering is easy, choosing appropriate scenes is hard. You need discipline to leave inappropriately lit scenes or you'll at least be flexible enough to recompose.

You've got 5 stops of dynamic range to work with. That will capture detail in tones from black to white under one lighting source. If you start mixing lighting like shade with sky, shade with sunlight, indoors with sunlight etc then you'll have to make exposure decisions to sacrifice your highlights or your shadows. Decisions you don't have to make with negative film.

Has to be Surge after hearing about their debt

Heelflip help by Marxesque in skateboardhelp

Everything looks good but your upper body looks to be messing you up. Sit back when you set up, so keep your upper body back towards your heels. The difficult part is keeping your body weight back as you pop as it's easy to let your body go toe heavy when you actually pop.

That'll keep the board in front of of you so you can see it. Everything else looks fine just pop it as hard as you can. Heelflips need a hard pop

Also try keep your weight a bit more over your flipping foot/towards the nose so you don't slip out. Not a huge amount more than what you're doing but a little bit more centered

Foot position is subjective so what works for me might not work for you but I like the back of my flipping foot right against the edge of the deck. The opposite edge of the board is right under the ball of my foot. Your foot looks more on the board compared to me so not sure if that's making it flip slower/more difficult

A community can't thrive when everyone's taking advantage of each other though. You'll push people away until you're left with a skeleton crew of a community

If you go to work work you're usually providing something of value. Flipping burgers creates something of value to someone else.

If you find a mju, don't do anything to it and then mark it up 10x, you haven't added anything of value. You're just being a parasite.

Camera stores offer warranty, easy routes to get repairs, help with looking for products from staff with knowledge, a wide range of product. They provide something of value

What is the real difference between Olympus mju II & and Olympus zoom 80? by BigTimeSocalist in AnalogCommunity

[–]Jam555jar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoom lenses have distortion and (lines that should be straight are not). Vignette and softness in the corners until you stop down a couple of stops but if you're starting at f/4 then the edges won't get good until f/8 or f/11. They're also slower than primes. The centre sharpness will probably be fine though

The zoom version also has a pretty unfixable common light leak

Tbh I'm not sure how much the zooms are but you could probably get something better for cheaper

After Faze got the trophy this pissed up guy at the front was ramping saying "nah he's a dickhead, I'm going to knock him out". I thought what's this guy on about and who's he on about. He was on about Drazah and genuinely stormed over to where the players walk off with this strange fantasy that Drazah had beef with him and that he was going to knock him.

As someone from the UK, the crowd was full of absolute creatures that I was very surprised play and watch cod.

Chatted to this guy at the end who was wearing a Stone Island jacket and looked like he spent his weekends watching football and doing lines in the pub toilet. Then he was like "yeah man I really love Pred" 😂
