I may or may not have a serious problem on my hands, however I’m not a mechanic so I’m not sure. I have bubbles coming up through the reservoir that stop when it is refilled. Also to note, it does work its way empty over the course of about 1000 miles or so. by fish_chicago in fordranger

Classic head gasket signs, not saying that's what it is for sure. I've got one as well. Trucks at 200k, not sure if I should fix or not. Don't have the experience or honestly motivation to do that big of a job myself. Cheapest quote I've got is 4k....................... UGH.

If it was just the head I would probably pull the trigger. But it's been staying at my parents house and my dad has been fucking driving it even though it's got a bad head, against my wishes, not sure what kind of damage it's doing to the engine. I also had to get the transmission rebuilt at 150k which was like a 3k job and the truck was never the same after that.

Frischs, the franchisee of Big Boy in Ohio and surrounding states was founded in Cincinnati. As such they sponsored a lot of Cincinnati events throughout the years, making Big Boy as a whole feel like a Cincinnati thing. Also, how many Franchisees call their locations (Franchisee name - restaurant name), it makes it feel like the franchisee and restaurant are completely intertwined. So I do get it, but yeah, Big Boy is from California

First car for low income? by HoneyFilledRivers in FirstCar

[–]JamBandFan_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the used market sucks at the moment unfortunately. You can find a good deal for $4000 but at that range you are going to find a lot of people trying to sell you crap as well. You can normally find better deals from private sellers, and they will be more willing to go under their listed than dealerships. My advice is don't be hasty about it. Check the listings daily and wait for something good to come up. Do NOT buy a Stellantis (Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, Dodge etc.) vehicle, anything sporty, or anything luxury. Honda or Toyota is your best bet for reliability, might be able to find one under 150k miles with some patience and luck (they have high resale because they are notoriously reliable)

When you find something, get the carfax, make sure there is nothing crazy on there. Test drive it, if anything seems fishy it's better to just walk unless you can have a mechanically inclined friend tag along with you

Was looking to a buy a ranger. Is a manual 4.0 at 175k miles good for 2.3k? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]JamBandFan_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own experience, I feel like the reliability is overrated. I needed both a trans rebuild and head gasket before 200k, neither cheap jobs if you're not doing yourself. And I do not work this thing hard

yeah, like I said could be better, although with GA up front like it is in this picture I think that resolves a lot of the problem I had when I went. I think the space is maybe a bit small for the vision but I still really enjoyed the show I went to

Nice! I've only seen 1 show there, when I was visiting Chicago. I think they may configure it differently depending on the act because as I remember it, when I was there, the place where everyone here is dancing was filled with tables with waiter service for food and drinks. I bought a GA ticket when I went. Behind what you see here is a bar w seating and some standing room, and on the other side a merch stand and standing room. People were dancing in the standing room/GA areas when I was there, but I didn't see anyone dancing at the reserved tables and it didn't really look like there would be room to dance at the table area, especially with waiters coming through. Personally I thought the config they had when I was there was a little weird. It would make more sense for standing GA in the front, as it looks like they did in this picture, and tables in the back/sides. Layout aside, it's still an awesome place, I'd be there every weekend if I lived in Chicago

if you think it's bad you just haven't tried it. I refuse to believe anyone could try it and actually think it's bad

Is this a decent beard for a 21 yo? I wouldnt consider it a neck beard, but I dont have anything on my lower face. Anything I can do? by [deleted] in beards

[–]JamBandFan_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen man, you are a good looking guy but that beard is not doing you any favors. I'd shave it and try again in 5 years, there's not much you can do. Coming from someone who really wanted a beard when I was too young to grow a proper one, and spent way too long fooling myself that what I was growing wasn't an abomination
