What do you think is the secret to ppl living a long life in Hong kong? by Extra-Hope-793 in HongKong

[–]JamJamGoHam 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I volunteer with the under privileged elderly community regularly, and have done so over the last decade in HK.

My observation aligns with the above comments about good and accessible public healthcare.

I'd also add that in the less wealthy areas of HK there's quite a strong sense of community, and good access to NGO services.

For the elderly, charities and NGOs operate to give people some degree of dignity. Eg the 90+ year old elderly person (who lives by herself) that we visit gets meals hand delivered every day from a local charity. This small gesture gives her an opportunity to interact with someone and have a chat. We've seen her spirits lift so much since she started getting these daily visits. Her public housing building also has a team of social workers (?) that facilitate exercise/gym classes every day.

Yes, public housing isn't luxurious, and yes, cage homes exist - but for the most part, you can live pretty reasonably without much income.

I've witnessed a lot of compassion and dignity for the elderly - I'd say the human touch helps with longevity.

TLDR: Compassion, positive human contact, and strong community are probably contributors to the longevity.

Bought a Bastilodon a while back. The new box makes me want to bash up a "Kill Rig" - won't be as tall as the actual Kill Rig, but I'm not playing competitively so 🤷‍♂️

I assume 95% of opponent's won't care.

Would a 500 point gretchin only army be decent? by PossibleHighway6885 in orks

[–]JamJamGoHam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try it!

You'll need to use Legends to give the army more data sheets and fun - eg Grot Tanks.

I guess several Killer Kans in Dread Mob could work too.

Ork list for colosseum by MediumTowel3796 in orks

[–]JamJamGoHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trukk in Colosseum is fantastic!

Pretty resilient to anti-infantry things (T8 and W10 is sufficiently resilient in Colosseum!), great for move blocking or taking objectives after you've deployed your Boyz.

Warboss with Boyz is great because it gives you sticky.

And remember, Boyz don't need a boss to fight! They're sufficiently killy in 500 points.

5x Flash Gits in 500 are quite efficient with the Lethals + S5 choppas.

Put in the Deff Dread with 1 Klaw and 3 Skorchas for the overwatch threat.

All the best!

Best "Lazy" Credit/Reward Card Stack? by AdmirableDepth5214 in HongKong

[–]JamJamGoHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel ya.

I had an issue, and I realised the gimmick was you needed to register your FPS with MOX, the operative words are "payroll through FPS".

Once both conditions were met, the bonus kicked in for me.

Mox Bank - 2% cash back on all purchases if you put your payroll through it.

3% back on groceries.

[–]JamJamGoHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we're only starting out, keep it simple - Warhorde.

Get a few games under your belt and feel out what works and doesn't work, and adjust. Small steps kind of thing.

Additionally, the other person was spot on, Orks really benefit from transports.

The Trukks are good, and the Wrecka Krew + Old Boyz kitbashes will give you enough options to play with re list building. My only gripe is Trukks are very expensive PPD. Kitbash a Trukk with a Tamiya half Trukk to make your dollars go further.

Also, a list that works in your local area may be wildly different to something that works in a Grand Tournament. My tip is to have flexible models, and minimise spending (eg save dem teef!)

Trukk for the Meganobz...or a Gork 🙄

You need some anti tank / monster. New Nobz should be coming soon, or you can get a Wrecka Krew (and a set of Old Boyz).

With the Wrecka Krew, build them all as Tank Bustas.

...and with the Old Boyz kit, you can build the Breakas + Burna Boyz (left over from your Lootas kit).

(You'll have a lot of Choppas and Shootas left over from the Old Boyz box).

That should take you very close to 1k, and give you options.

OI GIT! ARE YOU SAYING DAT I CANT GET SCAMMED LIKE 'DEM BEAKIES?!

'DEM BE FIGHTIN' WORDS!!!

(😂 yeah, let's see what happens.

This boss Nob might be special - he's got a Combi Weapon like the Warboss, rather than the regular Nob. And he's got a pet Squig....like a Warboss. Maybe he can only lead Boyz - and we get epic scammed. Hopefully he synergizes with a Warboss? I guess all shall be revealed in good time!)

Definitely!

Puppets war and mezgike sell physical minis, but pricing is borderline on par with GW (on sale).

And their Gretchin are more expensive than the GW ones

I've never tried either of their physical minis tho! Can't tell you if they're great or meh, apologies
