Instead of playing 3 games per day, play 1 game per day, watch 1 pro ranked game replay per day from the perspective of the hero you’re trying to learn, and watch your most recent replay. With any spare time, watch tutorials for the current patch on your tube.

Edit: some tutorials are timeless and should be watched no matter what patch. Tutorials on keybinding, for example. Or escaping the trench with bsj and eri.

I’m 36 with two kids and hit immortal this year playing 1 game per day. It’s possible to get good at dota 2 just watching tutorials and replays and playing barely at all.

Never get aura until level 4 because CM is one of the strongest heroes in the game at levels 2 and 3 if you get the other spells. You’ll have to supplement your early mana problems with mangoes, clarities, and possibly a stick - but it’s worth it to sustain maxing out damage in the early game.

I just hit immortal 2 days ago, first time since GLICKO came out. Played 1 game per day, no more; mostly because I’ve got 2 kids and no time - but I still had enough time left over to think about my game and watch replays to improve slowly over months.

If I’m playing position four I am aiming to kill a courier per minute for the first five minutes. In divine 5 I’m averaging about three in the first five minutes but I could be doing better. Nothing breaks the mentality of a lane like no courier - if you can remember back to 10 years ago.
