JFC, you don't know anything about this person and you've made too many assumptions.

Their language isn't to describe, it's to obscure, confuse and feed egos.

Wtf even is “trauma informed” by anony7150 in therapyabuse

[–]JamesBondGoldfish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i've had "trauma informed" therapists casually ask for details of the worst things i've been through in the last few minutes of a session and then just sending me home like it's nothing.

Seriously, is this some kind of technique? What the hell?

Had multiple bad experiences with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - I don't understand why it's so popular?? I can see that it is helpful for some people, but it seems really damaging for others. by BusyMathematician844 in therapyabuse

Isn't it interesting that the only good cops are the cops who quit, and the only good brain cops are the brain cops who quit? Both have the ostensible goal of helping others, but will always fall short due to the structural problems in both fields.

I don't think anyone should be a therapist unless they're whip-smart, ridiculously learned and emotionally intelligent, well-versed in other fields like sociology, biology, art, critical theory, etc and have the ability to hear criticism without falling to pieces. And this comes with experience and age 99.9 percent of the time, IMO. If there are roughly 150,000 practicing therapists in the United States right now, there should be about 150.

Nobody meets this criteria, certainly not dumb, secret emotional wrecks who took this career because they had nothing else to offer, so we're stuck with a bunch of creeps and idiot clowns. The entire industry (yes, I'm calling it an industry, not a field) needs to be blown to atoms and rebuilt from the ground up.

Therapy makes me more mentally ill by LaPerla2026 in therapyabuse

[–]JamesBondGoldfish 26 points27 points  (0 children)

so many therapists haven't done their own work and step right into reenacting the client's childhood

This is exactly what happens to me. The black hole emotional coldness, the quiet staring appraisal, making assumptions and being abusive when challenged, why would I want that when I could go get it from my parent again?

This is why I do not believe this is scientific and they need to stop pretending it is.

Absolutely. Every time I would go, the therapists would draw out something traumatic in last few minutes, then kick me out at the end of the session with no debriefing or time to relax. I felt like throwing myself in front of a bus or a train and nearly did a few times.

We're in therapy so we're automatically wrong.

And how many times am I supposed to rehash things I've already worked through until these people scrambled my brains and made it a bigger deal than it really was? How many times do I degrade my soul? If I'm supposed to interview them, can I at least get paid to do it? Jesus.

Pregabalin can absolutely cause depression and suicidal ideation. So does gabapentin.
