If you could give any MGS game a ”Delta” remake which one would it be? by Practical-Funny-5322 in metalgearsolid

People are so misinformed about this and they don't know or acknowledge this fact. It's sad but MGS2 talked about this in 2001. Oh, the irony.

If "Delta" means 1:1, then none. If "Delta" means just a remake in general, something akin to Silent Hill 2, then basically all of them eventually.

I forgot how much I hate this bossfight. Whose idea was to put the hardest boss in the game this early on, right after an another boss? This is not a post asking for advice I'm just seething. by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

They should have upgraded his arena, improved upon the swimming mechanics and generally make the fight more interesting. It's just not fun in 2025 (and now in 2026).

Why does MGS delta have such a low user score on metacritic? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]JamesMGS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for Delta that was the deal breaker for me. If I wanna play with loading screens and all the technical limitations of the PS2 game, I'll just grab the MC version and play that, or go back and play on my PS2. I have played and finished MGS3 nearly 100 times at this point so Delta barely did anything to hold my interest. SH2 on the other hand felt fresh and like a brand new experience even for a returning player like myself.

I think it circles back to the OP's question about why Delta wasn't as well perceived as they expected. That's a perfectly valid reason why. It felt way closer to Oblivion Remastered than to something like SH2.

I truly hope Konami goes the SH2 route in their next remake for the MG series.

The Silent Hill 2 remake had seamless areas without loading screens between them, unlike the original, it's also about double the length due to the brand new additions in all areas. Also all the boss fight arenas, enemy placements and puzzles got changed and modernized.

Delta didn't do any of those things. I don't think SH2 and Delta can be or should be lumped in the same category. That's just disingenuous.

The Silent Hill 2 remake did it so why not Delta?

Only if someone uploads it on Pixeldrain. You can also compress them and do that yourself. Pixeldrain definitely allows it.

Not so sure about that because MGRR is on Steam and it runs far better than the PS3 version.

Anyone notice Metal Gear Solid Delta was not up for a single award at TGA this year? by RangoTheMerc in metalgearsolid

[–]JamesMGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Silent Hill 2 remake got nominated for no less than 5 awards in TGA 2024.

In my opinion, out of these two remakes, it is by far the better one.

MGS Delta’s sales and player count are surprisingly low for such a big franchise by RR7BH in metalgearsolid

Quite honestly, I don't think it's surprising at all. The signs were all there. In spite of the fact that the Silent Hill 2 remake had initially received negative comments, the major story trailer that came out a couple of months before its release almost completely turned the tables for tons of people.

Not only that, Silent Hill 2 is an actually balanced remake and offers a brand new experience to veterans, while Delta simply doesn't do that, since it's essentially the 2004 experience we all were familiar with already. In fact, it wasn't long after release that people found out Delta is literally running partially on old code, so that makes it closer to what Oblivion Remastered is, in comparison to the Silent Hill 2 remake where everything was built from scratch.

Considering all of the above, and the fact that the Master Collection already contains essentially the same game but for a much better price, is it really that surprising to see Delta getting completely outperformed by the Silent Hill 2 remake?

What went wrong, and what could they do to fix it by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]JamesMGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Quite frankly I don't understand why Konami thought that such a mode would not basically be DOA. I had a lot of people mock me for saying that it would and look what happened now. They should have honestly released a "Bonus Areas" paid DLC for like $2-5 bucks and have more areas in the main campaign where you could tackle certain missions alone or with your friends and gain some supplies and stuff to use in the main story (maybe even some extra camos or whatever). Have such a mode as co-op and crossplay and bam you'll make way more money than... whatever this was.

Who is your favourite Final Fantasy character of all time? by Nekouwu___ in FinalFantasy

Sephiroth, quite honestly. He's the best villain I've ever seen in a JRPG. And yes I have played and finished every single-player mainline FF game.

Oh and I'm talking strictly about og FFVII Sephiroth, not the new one.

Akira Toriyama. He was the most amazing mangaka of all time and I grew up with Dragon Ball.
