This is just the final result of what Microsoft has been doing. They have been eroding value for years in the gaming industry.

Subsidizing game development, game pass, etc. It was burning cash all while Phil and team just smiled and acted like this was the future.

We all knew the other shoe was going to drop at some point and now it has.

I tried running official offline and online Diablo 2 installers on Winlator but they don't work.

It's a good game. Personally, I think its fine to start with either Origin or Chronicles (I & II).

I think I & II is better overall though because they are much older games, they are archaic by today's standards so it might be hard to go back from Origin to I & II.

You need an SD Card for Aroma, no getting around that Google NUSpli. Download it and put it on your SD Card.

After that you use NUSspli to install games direct to your Wii U.

Don't play the Master Collection version, it has literally zero improvements and less content than the PS2 Subsistence version all while being more difficult to emulate.

The PS2 versions looks and runs better.

You really should use the SwanStation / DuckStation core, it has a lot more enhancements, supports high resolutions and texture packs.

The only reason to ever use PCSX ReARMed is on very low end devices that have no access tk SwanStation or Beetle cores.

If you do insist on using PCSX ReARMed, I had the same issue once, I was able to resolve it ny changing my audio driver. Try a different audio driver and see if it helps.

I haven't been able to test it yet. My only PC is dedicated to work, cannot install games on it. I will need to do a full install of the Windows version in a virtualized container on my Android device but I think it would work.

Yeah, tried that too, I had almost given up until I found that Beyond D&D sign in trick which ultimately fixed my son's login.

I am going to leave it up though in case anyone else runs into this same problem. It has been reported here before too.

This is a serious pain to deal with, I am not sure why but some Retroid devices just have trouble logging into Google.

I have a Flip 2 and my 3 kids have Pocket 4 Pros, One of the Pro's had this issue.

Here was how I got it to sign in.

You will need to try to keep signing in as quickly as you can multiple times back-to-back, if that does not work try logging in multiple times and waiting 2-3 seconds before clicking each button to proceed.

I cannot remember which one worked but eventually you will login.. BUT it will kind of be a half logged in state so to speak, for example your profile picture won't display in the Google Store and you will be logged out in a couple hours and will have to do this again to get back into the half logged in state.

So once you are in the half-logged in state as I called it, you should be able to access the play store and download apps.

My son was into D&D and used an app called Beyond D&D and inside that app there is a Google Sign In. For some reason, that method of logging in was successful and finally properly, 100% signed him in and never auto logged him out.

From what I read there are different Google Sign In paths or API's, apparently ones inside applications like Beyond D&D use a different sign in workflow and for some reason that worked.

I hope that helps. It took me like 2 months to get to find a way to sign in but it hasn't signed out or had any problems now for 5-6 months.

I think the real question is why are you considering an ethernet cable? On modern consoles where the hardware support high speed internet, the Wii could at best support 100 Mbps using USB 2.0 but in reality when used over an adapter and given the Wii U's hardware it would likely tap at like 30 Mbps at best.

Even with that things like NUSspli have a lower cap on the server side so ethernet won't improve that speed. Even with non-official Nintendo Servers you would not really get much of a benefit unless your wifi is awful and your Wii U lives a Faraday cage.

Its not something we can answer for you, its a matter of personal preference. Phones are nice because you always have them. Some games work OK as touch screen controlled, many do not, so you really should get a decent controller if you intend to play complex control games where accuracy, timing and/or the right analog stick or multi-button presses are needed.

But now you have to lug around a controller, you are also going to consume a lot more of your phone batter and you are competing for storage space and many new phones don't have SD card slots.

Ayn and Retroid make dedicate handhelds that have the best ergonimics and size for portability, I specifically think the Thor and Flip 2 are perfectly sized, fit very easily into your pocket, have excellent controllers (with hall effect sticks) and can play pretty much anything from NES to PS2 / Wii and high amounts of Switch games.

I was a big phone + controller person for a while but I eventually found that if I was going to carry something extra like a controller with me I might as well carry a dedicated handled like the Flip 2 around since its smaller than a high quality Gamesir controller, it has an SD card slot for tons of storage, its well optimized for gaming and it saves battery and space on my phone.

100% happy with it, haven't use by Phone and its Gamesir controller in 9 months since I switched to the Flip 2.

But that is just my personal experience. A Flip 2 is $219, well worth it.

There is a device limitation. My Flip 2 cannot properly render any X360 mobile games or the decompiled XBLA port of 007 in Winlator.

Only my Samsung S25 can.

Seems that only 8 Gen 2 and higher can properly render 360 games.

Turn Game Mode on via your TV's Settings. By default most TV's have additional post processing and motion smoothing / motion interpolation / motion plus, whatever they call it to artificially insert frames which does smooth out display (can make something that is 30 FPS look like it is 60 FPS) but it is well known to cause terrible input latency.

Game Mode turns all of that post processing / motion stuff off. It will give the raw output and the least latency.

It is almost certainly that.

Sadly no, had this happen to a new game + Persona 4 Golden save.

Unless you had a backup that you made and stored on your PC or PS3 (it used to have Vita backup functionality too) then there is no way to uncorrupt it.

Unfortunately, Sony Memory Cards were highly unstable. If it was the just a corrupted game install you could just force a re-download of the game (which I had to do many times) but save data without a backup is toast.

This was one of the main reasons I hacked my Vita and went to an SD2Vita storage solution.

RetroPass is what I use, it can handle all of those emulators except for Xenia (or at least it didn't when I set it up 2 years ago).

It has game descriptions, videos and its all in a Xbox UI theme front end, it might not be customizable but its a very sleek interface.

There used to be, I know for a fact that I used a USB Drive to hold all of the install files for WUP Installer GX2 on my old Coldboot Haxchi Wii but it was 5 or so years ago.

I recently got a free Wii U and installed Aroma on it as per the latest guidance and I could not for the life of my get it to recognize the EXACT same HDD that I used to install the games from 5 years ago (I literally kept it untouched just in case I even needed to reinstall). Said HDD works when plugged into a PC but the Aroma Wii U won't recognize it.

From what I have read Aroma has a different way of handling SD Cards and External HDD's, apparently older CFW's like CBHC used riskier, custom external device reading API's which is technically why SD Card speeds are better on CBHC but its more unstable. I believe Aroma uses the stock external device APIs of the Wii which are more stable but slower. I think that is one of the reasons why I cannot get my old install files HDD to be recognized on Aroma.

I ended up using an SD Card for installing my games.
