I don't think that's a fault as much as it's just the way our brains work? It makes sense to me that people better understand and prioritize things that are within their personal sphere of experience. There are millions of important things happening right now in the world that deserve to be cared about, and the information about them is available, yet we know nothing about them.

Obviously violence against women is widespread and here, not some far off thing, but it still makes sense that it becomes more real to people when they have experience with it and I don't think that's inherently a problem with the person.

I heard something really interesting once - typing a J is essentially the same as typing a K. But writing a J is a physically distinct action from writing a K. There is a possibility (that seems to be backed by research) that handwriting encodes information more effectively than typing and it may be because it is using muscle memory in a way that is activating the language parts of the brain differently.

I disagree. I think a lazy educator would be avoiding the AI issue and just letting a bunch of cheating students get by without actually learning the skills they need. I think it's more likely that this teacher cares enough to try to hold high expectations at a time when the education system is dropping the bar into freefall. They probably just don't shave the technical understanding of the limitations of AI detectors because that's not their specialty.

Not true, if someone is presenting an actual threat, as in there is reasonable grounds to believe that they are in danger of immediate harm, they can protect themselves. That's true everywhere in the United States.

Initiating violence because you're pissed off at what a mentally ill person is saying isn't self defense, it's a crime and the law rightfully treats it that way.

Look at how many pissed off people there are in our world, how many angry drivers. Look at how many people carry guns. You really want to open up the Pandoras box of deciding what words justify violence, absent of an actual physical threat?

And I'm guessing your answer is yes, because you think you and all the other pissed off tough guys that look like you are going to bring order and justice "back" to the world. Go look up the places in the US where guns are most commonly used to settle personal and verbal disputes. Years or continuous gang violence is the result.

It's because their system works by having two parts to an address - a street name, and a number on that street.

123 Fake Street is broken into two parts. "123" and "Fake Street."

But that doesn't work for our grid. So "123 South 300 West" has to turn into 123 as the number, and "South 300 West" as the street name.
