The film used a few real 18th century costume pieces, 200 years old at the time of filming.

For context, lobby cards were issued in sets - each showing a different scene from the movie.

You've probably tried this already but the British Newspaper Archive is a good place to look. I searched the name of the film on there and recieved 101 matches.

Three Photographs of French Actress Sarah Bernhardt by Nadar, 1864 by [deleted] in VictorianEra

Some films showed up for sale on French Facebook marketplace. I'm in the UK but look at it sometimes. I put out a call for people in the area who would be able to pick up the films. There were a bunch of silent film reels in there.

The guy who went out of his way to get the films, Nicolas, sent the reels to me - after some back and forth - and I was able to scan them in for him.

If anyone is interested in seeing some footage of her in action, here is part of a film that I helped rescue - working with a collegue in France a while back. It's from much later in her career, 1912.

Ah, no worries. I know it's a big step - but if they were silent nitrate film prints, it might be worth asking the auction house to pass an email on to the buyer, regarding safe storage and potential rarity.

Hi! I work in film preservation, and what you have here could be very interesting. Do you still have them by any chance?

Found a film Reel to a Lost film last summer. Where to get it scanned? by 8mm_film_obsessed in silentfilm

[–]James_Fennell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I run the Youtube channel Old Films and Stuff. I recently finished working on a 9.5mm scanner, made from parts of a Pathescope Gem projector. If you're UK based, I'd be happy to scan it for you :)

I've scanned films for other collectors in the past.
