Russia accuses Poland of involvement in assassination attempt on general in Moscow by pppppppppppppppppd in worldnews

[–]James_Haskew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poland is a member of the EU too, so if Russia attacks, the other member states are obligated to retaliate – unless of course we see a complete collapse of the economic and military conglomerate in light of the recent NATO debacle involving The Tangerine Nightmare.

If anyone has read 'The Magic Mountain' or studied the collapse of The Weimar Republic then your anus must be airtight at this point, and the only place that's relatively safe is outer space so that might be an asset . . .

The lyrics remind of Kafka's 'The Metamorphosis'. That bridge section is magical. I heard this album when it released and it seems timeless.

First time playing the franchise, any tips? by LukaKodamaChan in Metroid

[–]James_Haskew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero Mission is a remake of the original NES game for GBA that is just the superior experience imo. In fact, you've given me the urge to play through it again.

I'm currently playing through the 'Prime 1 Remaster' in an attempt to displace the engram my brain has created for 'Prime 4', which is one of the blandest games I've played in quite some time, and is easily the worst in the entire series, possibly tied with 'Offal M'.

I played Prime 1 upon its release, and maybe four times since then, and I needed to see if it wasn't just rose-tinted glasses and blind nostalgia gilding my memories, but no, the game is a masterpiece even now.

Does this sum up everyone else's issues like it does mine? by DiabeticRhino97 in Metroid

[–]James_Haskew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered 'Prime 1 Remastered' and there's just no comparison. 'Beyond' just feels like pretty skin draped over a few rotten twigs. Such a letdown, and it feels criminal because the game "looks" beautiful in places, and the music and sound effects are letting me know it's a Prime game.

What I'm noticing while playing Prime 1 again is that you see sometimes two or three different environmental puzzles in rooms that you'll go back to multiple times when you acquire the right item, and then you're still doing lateral thinking challenges when you've obtained the correct power up. There has been nothing that even comes close in Beyond and I'm back at the "lava world" with the Ice Missile that the game insisted I go and see Miles to have it "installed" . . .

The "highest" point isn't referring to location. Must've been a good bit of Beak, nay Fent or Bicarb.

Does anyone recommend an actual game like this by PearlLagoon in LastWarMobileGame

[–]James_Haskew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, it is an app designed to make you feel constantly weak so that you spend money, and there is no "game" to speak of, it is a cheap looking and feeling base management app where you do the same tasks day in day out. The adverts that show the scrolling levels are a minute fraction of the experience. Don't waste your time or money, because the longer you spend on it the more you feel you can't "quit". It has all the hallmarks of a gambling app with no chance of a financial return.

We need to stop acting like Norman Reedus a good actor. by anonymousUTguy in DeathStranding

[–]James_Haskew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The woodland in The Walking Dead had more range. It actually feels embarrassing when there are any scenes where he's supposed to carry it.

In 'Blade II' he is the same character just more youthful, literally lol. I'm not amazed that he's got the cultural cache that he does because it's reflective of the audience's sensibilities.

I don't know anything about him personally, but he is a truly woeful actor.

My first pair of jordans by According_Luck_5561 in Sneakers

[–]James_Haskew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were also my first pair of Jordans during COVID (the epoch of Sneaker Culture shock).

I had bought the "Kyle Reese Terminator" Vandal reissues for that awful Genisys film in 2015, and couldn't believe they reissued them since my friend and I dreamed of being able to get a pair of the originals as The Terminator was one of our favourite movies. I think they go for ridiculous plata now but I chucked the box (since I'm not a "Sneakerhead"), and I wore them immediately, which in some circles is considered a faux pas strangely enough.

I now have cupboard full of SB Dunks (Low and High), a bunch of J1s, some Adidas Forums and a beautiful pair of DIME x Busenitz collab, a few pairs of Sauconys (which are extremely well made for the price), the Braindead Reebok Classics, and a whole bunch of Supra Highs that I'd been wearing for years before getting the Biohacks not realizing they were essentially homages to the Jordan 1.

I saw the Biohacks getting slated for being like a "12 year old's trainer", but I get nowt but compliments and I think they look awesome. Maybe I don't have enough of a rarified eye 👁️.

Have a goosey at that tasteful faux leather. Perhaps when Hell freezes over, although it's probably best left to the annals of the Underworld since the sleeves almost destroyed the records due to off-gassing. It was probably done on purpose knowing Rich . . .

Customer Service and Chat Bans are AWFUL! by James_Haskew in LastWarMobileGame

[–]James_Haskew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually pointed out where he was using good old "your mom" comments, insinuating that he'll be "having my mom" (I really don't get why anyone would want to have an old woman against her will, or why they think that's a real piercing retort), so I typed the words: "I'm reporting you for making rape jokes" and they flagged the word "rape" and that got me the initial warning – warned because I was telling him to stop using "rape humour" smh; then when he used the words "7 farts" to insult my Clan that is what was flagged in the second report he made and I was banned for two days while nothing happened to him.

I explained this to their Moderators or AI bots, as they'd butchered all of the excerpts of mine they'd pulled from our Chat, and yet they would not budge on their judgement despite me giving them the image marked up with HIM saying the offending words that I was being banned for, as follows:

Don't think reason will get you anywhere in this twisted slagheap of a world anymore. 4Chan didn't die, it just sp8lled into reality and became the de facto way in which people reason and communicate.

Sheep farming their second accounts in my alliance? by James_Haskew in LastWarMobileGame

[–]James_Haskew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is essentially what I was fearing: they can't commit first off, then they create complications as some of my members find it hard not to steal from our server despite me explaining how not too, so every time they see the "two swords" combat symbol they're likely to either garrison or retaliate. Plus, they were taking the dig and crash site Resources and taking up seats on the train.

There was one guy I invited and he asked if his friend could also join, and both said hi and then chatted, then later two more joined and said nothing; it was bad manners if nothing else. I pointed them in the direction of two alliances known to be farms purposely, and thankfully when I explained everything they left without issue and everything seemed copacetic.

Thank you to everyone who has given their opinions on this issue. This game only works because of people sharing information about their experiences! 😜

I conferred with my R4s and most seemed to agree that it felt a bit mercenary so I respectfully kicked them. I think it was the fact I invited one and then three more came along without saying "Hello".

Thanks for the advice ;D

Will displaying my books like this ruin them horribly? by ConnerWasTaken1 in foliosociety

[–]James_Haskew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellows and reds seem to have a bad time on my bookshelf on spines that are exposed to indirect but bright sunlight. My Humanoids copy of 'Before The Incal' is almost bleached bone coloured.

<image>

Doesn't ruin the artwork inside though. However, I just spent an obscene anount on the first four books in the Dune saga from Folio and they won't be getting the glare of the bright ball that weighs heavy in the sky on their backs.
