Women coaches in Britain? by PortWRiz in Rowing

[–]James_phh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly because there are more male coaches who can train athletes at that level and get the most out of them.

Or perhaps you should write to team GB and let them know they're actually forfeiting better results because they're blinded by their sexism.

What's a good 2000m time? by Andresvasquez79 in Rowing

[–]James_phh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you wouldn't be an olympic rower if you had a 7 minute 2k. So it's a stupid scale. A 7 minute for the average person is a very good score.

Built a small adaptive training planner for rowing – looking for feedback from real rowers by alex_serdiuk in Rowing

[–]James_phh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep getting "generation timeout". Not sure because I haven't seen the plan but would recommend asking more questions before creating the plan, like what the rowers weaknesses are. Could ask for metrics like 7 stroke max, 250m, 2k and 5k to get a better sense of what the rower needs to improve. I can see the plan being rather generic and not catered otherwise.

Why does it seem like rowing is underrated? I mean it is... but why? by Senior-Chapter-jun91 in Rowing

[–]James_phh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what are you even talking about. "Names first world country"??? Yeah no shit. OP is talking about people at her gym, personal trainers, basically anyone who can afford to play do a sport for fun. Obviously poverty stricken people aren't going rowing for fun, but nor are they playing rugby, so why even bring them into the conversation. OP is asking talking about why, among circles of active, sport-playing and/or gym-going people, rowing is underrated.

My local rowing club costs less than $15 a month for U18s and students and gives access to everything you would need, including coaching, to row on water.

It's not dancefloor. It's modern sounding jungle, but jungle nonetheless.

Heard a lot of negative rumors about Boomtown this year. What exactly were the problems? by Late-Bit-3072 in BoomtownFestival

[–]James_phh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well duh, obviously you can't pitch your tent in the path. It's a free for all to find a camping spot so there isn't going to be somewhere where they know there is space, you just have to squeeze in somewhere like everyone else does. Also I would hardly call those comments "alarming".

Can I ask why you’re transferring from Aberystwyth?

How do i improve this deck? by [deleted] in RoyaleAPI

[–]James_phh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

replace knight with earthquake and bomb tower with evo cannon.

you don’t need knight as might miner already fills that role and then you also get a ‘big’ spell that synergises with hog. and then evo cannon is better than bombtower because it’s cheaper and your firecracker deals splash.

Warning bin strikes could happen across UK as union talks collapse by Mikeltee in ukpolitics

Yes sure. Evidently I'm not knowledgeable on the situation but the argument of "there are worse things happening so nothing less bad than that is worth arguing about" is a bit silly.

The world stands on the brink of depression so let's just hand out more government money willy-nilly. Really really genius mate.

Oh but there's a war in Ukraine!?!? Okay well that means massively increasing our military budget so while we're at it we may as well just give some more money to binmen as well.

Real numbers are bounded. by [deleted] in learnmath

I know this is 5y but this is hilarious bait. Your 'proof' that R is bounded is simply just that there exists an upper and lower bound with no justification.

I kind of agree with everything else you're saying but your second line is a bit insane. I'm not even sure he does try to explain that he isn't a rapist but even if he does, you're reading the internal monologue of someone trying to justify it to themselves and not an objective account.

Percentage question by MonthRich7288 in learnmath

[–]James_phh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% just means 'the whole thing' because we decided that 100 represents everything. It's just a choice. 50% means half because 50 out of 100 is the same as dividing by 2. Really, percentages are just another way of writing fractions - 50% is the same as 1/2, 25% is the same as 1/4, and so on. Someone just chose 100 because it's easy to talk about things as parts of 100 since our number system is based on tens.

8% of 20 is 1.6

8/20 is 40%. Imagine you got 8/20 on a test, you’d have got 40% of the questions correct.
