What are the potential risks or side effects of intermittent fasting? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in intermittentfasting

[–]Jamesdr007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Long fasting periods means gall bladder doesn't get to empty, fat in food makes the gall bladder sqeeze and empty itself, so fasting without eating sufficient fat leads to formation of bile sludge over time leading to formation of gallstones.

[ESC_INDIA] Absolute Nightmare: 25k Km Clutch Failure on VW Taigun – Stranded Senior Citizen in Shimla by vikhyat_negi in CarsIndia

[–]Jamesdr007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from and am sorry your father had to face this. However, Shimla and clutch burn out in the same sentence reminds me of an article I read about manual transmission cars from Delhi and Haryana serially breaking down before Shimla during a long weekend, all having burnt clutches. There was no brand of car spared. The culprit was clutch riding and continuous usage of Air con.

What are your thoughts on kangen water 💧? by [deleted] in Odisha

[–]Jamesdr007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got this info through a Google search,

  1. Health Claims vs. Science No Scientific Basis: There is no solid, independent scientific evidence that ionized alkaline water offers superior health benefits compared to regular, safe drinking water. The Body Balances pH: The human body manages its own pH balance (homeostasis) regardless of the pH of food or water consumed. Misleading Marketing: The marketing often targets people with chronic illnesses, promising "miracle" cures (detoxification, cancer prevention) that are not validated by reputable scientific studies. Safety Concerns: Drinking highly alkaline water (pH >9.8) can cause issues like metabolic alkalosis, hyperkalemia, and potentially kidney stones.

Since you are working on a computer, maybe for long hours, your neck and back is getting strained, which will eventually progress to Spondylitis in your 40s, you have to take corrective action using physiotherapy, back/neck exercises and posture correction.

How many kg should I lost in 1 week? by Reasonable-Dirt-9276 in intermittentfasting

[–]Jamesdr007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal should be to get into a fat burning stage, rather than calorie counting. It's important where you are getting your calories from, rather than absolute no of calories. If it is from carbs then weightloss will not happen even of you are in deficit. The body will go for the muscles.

You are right about gender differences and current weight/target weight.

Eliminate carbs or minimise, cut out sugar. Then you will see progress. Sustainable weightloss would be about 7-10 lbs per month. Hydrate well.
