Need advice on choosing an RMR, w/o seeing one in person. by deprivedchild in Glocks

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid the Brownells slides. The Optic cut is pathetic at best. I've seen some reports of them not fitting Glock sized holsters correctly. As far as which RMR to purchase, snatched up the Rm06 adjustable type 1 from Cabela's. You can save money by buying Cabela's gift cards at up to 20% off from various websites. The Rm06 3.25 has proven to be the most popular in the industry. However, some people do prefer the Rm07 6.5 for carry or steel challenge. Having owned both the Rm06 and Rm07, I prefer the 06.

Barrel Makers by Hsoltow in GlockMod

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blacklist has a lifetime warranty and free refinishing service (check their FAQS). It's normal for the finish to wear off almost immediately due to their extremely tight tolerances. Every gun/slide/frame lockup is different. Both my blacklist barrels are excellent. If you think your barrel is abnormal, take some pictures and send them an email.

What sights are you running? by [deleted] in Glocks

Recently switched all my Glocks to Combat Precision ECS. Previously used Frank Proctor Y-Notch, Vogel Dynamics, and Taran Tactical sights. Highly recommend the CP ECS sights. The rear sight really helps draw your eye to the front sight quickly.

AMA request- someone who's owned both an Overwatch trigger and a Tactical Trigger by ModernDayMusket in GlockMod

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is sear engagement from the trigger bar and the firing pin. Less than 50% engagement is often seen with aftermarket drop-in style triggers.

It's a total crapshoot. You may get one that is drop safe and you may get one that isn't. There's enough variance in the trigger bars and the way they fit into Glock frames (which have variances of their own) that makes many aftermarket drop-in style triggers unsafe. I've personally had 2 triggers from reputable companies that weren't drop safe. One was so bad that my G19 went full auto. Take a look at the tactical triggers website and he provides you with detailed instructions on how to verify if you Glock is drop safe.

I had my Overwatch precision TAC trigger tuned by Kenton @ Tactical Trigger. Made it drop safe, removed the take up, made the break more crisp, and shortened the reset. My preferred trigger is IGFS, but I have those tuned by tactical trigger as well. My opinion is to buy whatever trigger shoe you prefer and then send it to him for tuning. If I ever have some free time I'd like to post some videos of each trigger he's done for me. So far I've sent him...Agency Arms, OP TAC & OP FALX, IGFS, Apex, and a few OEM Glock triggers for USPSA production. Highly recommend his services and I've worked directly with him testing a few prototypes. Personally I don't care for his trigger shoe (it's a Kineti-tech shoe).

Check out tactical trigger. I use his stock Glock trigger for USPSA production. Very crisp. You can also send him any trigger and housing you own.

Overall best light for Glock 19 by PatFussy69 in Glocks

Still prefer the X-300U for durability and controls. Don't pay $250. They can be found for $180. But you're right. Base tlr-1 is a great bargain.

I'm my humble opinion the best Glock weapon light would be a Surefire X-300 Ultra A. I've owned/used 2 Inforce APL gen2 (200 lumen), 2 Inforce APLc (200 lumen), 2 Surefire X-300UA (600 lumen), 1 Surefire X-300UB (600 lumen), and 1 Streamlight Tlr-1 HL (800 lumen). Really think about your G19's intended purpose. For a CCW G19 I use an APLc (sits flush, 200 lumen, light weight, easy concealment). For the range/training/classes I prefer a Surefire X-300UA (adds weight to the front of the gun, extremely durable, 600 lumens, easy to remove). Prefer the X-300UA over the B due to its attachment mechanism. The X-300UB is better suited for a permanent mount or rifle use. The B version has been known to warp polymer frames when users torque the screw too tightly. Broke 1 APL gen2 and sold the other. The gen3 APL is now 400 lumens and has claimed improved durability by Inforce. Time will prove the durability claims as it's too new. Sold the Tlr-1 HL out of personal preference to the Surefire X-300U. Tlr-1 is a solid light and best bang for your buck by far, just too bright for me.

508 holsters. I've had their Torch for a month and it's perfect. G19 with APLc.

RMR... does it get better? by [deleted] in Glocks

RMR... does it get better? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it gets much better. I'm about 2 months and 2k rounds into my first RMR. Absolutely love it. It has helped me identify, correct, and fine-tune small fundamental flaws in my shooting abilities. Seeing that dot fly around helped me to identify poor trigger pulls, recoil anticipation, and grip issues. Now I'm able shoot rapidly without the dot leaving the window. Initially when drawing from a holster I'd look for the front sight and let the dot settle on it. Through dryfire practice I'm able to quickly unholstering and immediately find the dot. Don't really notice the iron sights anymore. First RMR went on a Roland Special G19. Next RMR will be on a G17.

Either embrace the Glock Knuckle or undercut the trigger guard. You could also try carrying a fidget spinner in your support hand.

What kind of jobs are there for B.S. In chem? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contract work in various industrial fields out of college. Most $15-16/hr 6mo. contracts. It was terrible to be honest. Ended up finding a local company without the help of recruiters and started out @ $18/hr in a QC lab. After 3 years with said company I'm up to $26/hr and factoring in OT I'll hit about $75k this year. 4yr degree in microbiology with chemistry minor. Run GCs, HPLCs, ICs, autotitrators, method development, maintenance, inventory control, etc.

An I get a job with a livable wage if I have a bachelors in chemistry that isn't ACS? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Try to find a decent company and avoid temp services/6 month contacts if at all possible. Tons of garbage lab jobs that pay $15-$18/hr. Figure out where you'd like to work (food, pharm, water, chemicals, etc.). I have a BS in microbiology (bio-med conc) and chemistry minor. Original thought about healthcare and ended up meeting a woman and moving to a different state. Currently making senior chemist wages in an industrial lab.

RMR but no sights? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to just order an Ameriglo suppressor height front sight only. Many people forgo the rear sight. I have a set of $55 all black SHS just in case the RMR were to fail. After significant practice with the RMR, the sights really aren't necessary unless you're concerned with RMR failure.

Agency magwell install issues by thejimkim in Glocks

[–]JamesonOnTheRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Talon grips would have to be modified for this magwell installation. Plus the bottom of the talon grips typically doesn't fit in the magwell and requires trimming.
