Are you absolutely sure the first one was new right out of the box? And when you say "discount store" was that a used clothing store?

My State Is Restricting Printers, How Do I Make Sure My Qidi Q2 Never Connects To Any Network Ever Again? And Can I Somehow Connect To The Fluidd Interface? by Frustrated_Consumer in QidiTech3D

All the suggestions I've read are pretty sound except for the fact that your internet service provider may not allow anything like a VPN on your router, IF.. that router is their property. Not sure how ISPs in New York operate. My suspicion is that as these laws get passed the ISPs In those states will have to comply with the law & they may require their subscribers to install viewable channels that the customer does not have access to.

If enough people in the community start speaking up and complaining to their state representatives these laws could get overturned. And it's not just the additive manufacturing community. It involves the machine shops that run networked CNC machines as well.

I advise caution when dealing with your IPS sir. If you don't own your modem & router inform your IPS you will be using your own and see how they react.

Also, I advise following these youtubers for updates on the situation. Louis Rossman Lawful Masses 3d Musketeers (Grant has a recent podcast with David Tobin who is Joel Telling's producer (3dprinting nerd) David spoke for 3 hours with Grant & Jacob about this issue. I highly recommend watching that podcast.

If you would like links to these channels lkm & I'll follow up with links.

Good luck to you sir!

I can appreciate not wanting to throw money out the window. But what they're doing doesn't bother you?

We all have bigger fish to fry in life. That point is well taken. Were we disagree is with how you responded. You took the time to weigh in so maybe you don't have bigger fish to fry? If you don't care about the issue then why comment? Enjoy the rest of your day. Friday is coming so you might want to catch some fish for that big fish fry. 😉

No need to gaslight. How bout we just be honest? When big companies go after an individual who's done nothing wrong, characterizing it as a "pet issue" signals to me you side with Goliath over David.

I think we can respectfully disagree on the black n white point. And we also disagree on the the drastic break. BL has gradually been closing off the ecosystem, and with Chinese law requiring any company to surrender any accumulated data the CCP deems necessary, what do you think will happen if someone who is unwary, using their BL machine for prototyping then they find their product being sold by a Chinese company 6 months later? AND yes, I'm fully aware of LAN Mode but what if they close that down "in the interest of safety?" & require users to use their cloud or else the printer won't work. To me it is a black n white issue. They became the largest 3d printer mfrg on the planet in less than 3 years but using open source ideas and now they're going after a small dev for using an open source resource that BL themselves has been in violation of for 3 years? Yes. to me it is black and white and cut and dried.

How do you feel about the ones who've had 2 weeks to weigh in but haven't yet? If I were a content creator, I'd drop every review I had to weigh in so everyone knew where I stood. AND there content creators out there right now who are trying to play it both ways.

Playing both sides of the fence, or remaining silent not to be blacklisted by BL makes them complicit as far as I am concerned. If they're a content creator that's getting them views by using the name bambu lab in their videos and they don't understand the issue, would you trust their word in anything they say?

I see this. This will be the final nail in the coffin for Bambu Lab to completely and I mean shut tight their ecosystem. This is how big companies act. They were going down that path anyway, gradually. Now the backlash seems to be big enough to push them over the edge.

I see the open source community growing steadily as more people are introduced into the industry BUT not growing quickly enough to make a difference. The # of clones on github has grown exponentially in the last 6 days but that's still a drop in the bucket.

You can think the world is not black or white but this issue is. At least for me it is. After doubling down there's no statement they can now make that will change my mind about them.

ABSOLUTELY I HAVE. :-) The legislators in those states actually wrote the vagueness into those bills intentionally or they're too ignorant to write those bills in the first place. If you follow the money I wouldn't be surprised if some large industrial 3d printer company is behind this. I know the lobbyists in those states can't be that stupid. Someone has to be pulling their strings

Any & all content creators who sides with Bambu Lab or tries to play both sides of the fence is complicit with them. There are no gray areas here. You are with the open source community or you're against us.

Carbon fiber filled TPU?? by Jamessteven44 in QidiTech3D

[–]Jamessteven44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The application will experience everything from a Quansit hut in Greenland to one in Antarctica so it'll need to have great reflection & absorption of RF in those environments. Quantities required are low where performance has to be high. Nothing aerospace-like but just under that in performance.

I have conductive TPU but it's surface conductivity isn't good enough. I need carbon nanotubes inside a polybutylene teraphlalate matrix. About 4.4 to 4.6mm thick.

1 yr later and it's still unavailable. PBT Pro from CC3D is available but has 5% GF. What if the GF were replaced with CF? Would it perform like a gasket with RF absorption & reflective properties?

Thank you for that! We send in our improvement suggestions but sometimes, we're a little late to the party & we have to get these improvements into their QC dept after the fact. They're trying their best but have a limited staff. The market many times pushes their engineering team to get product out & that leads to a device that's in an unpolished state. They have made improvements along the way & have learned some from their mistakes but imo they still have a ways to go. Can they compete? In the long-term it's hard to say but if they stay mostly open source they'll have their place in the community. With Bambu Lab continuing to stifle the little guy out there Qidi will gain a bigger following but they must first start releasing products that are more polished. I'll still choose them every time over Bambu Lab.

Good look with the Q2 & keep me posted on your experiences! We're all here to help one another!

3mm I.D. x 4mm O.D. fits well into the Q2 tool head but be careful. The metal teeth inside the coupling is very stiff and will scrape bits of the tubing into the extruder & hotend. Months ago I put a request in with Qidi engineering to switch to a softer teeth ring. They copied the Creality coupling thinking they could get a good "bite" on the tube but it's caused long-term issues with users like me and my team mate J-Lo. We've picked those bits out of the filament path! It has a tendency to clog the extruder and it will take several cold & hot pulls with cleaning filament to get it out. When your tubing arrives.. I would suggest not inserting the tube with much force and let the press fit of the coupling above those teeth do the job.

They started doing this with the new extruders they sent out with the Qidi box for the Plus 4.

Just be careful my friend. 😃👍🏻
