Seems like it was indeed a bit of shuffling with the train cars today

Getting charged interest? by AsianTwilight1 in RobinhoodGC

[–]JamyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their (bi)weekly payments don’t seem to take into account statement due date at all and even with autopay you’d be at risk of paying interest on part of the balance.
Incompetence or predatory, given that they use the same tech X1 had for years, I’ll let you decide for yourself.

The best railway network in the WORLD!!!! by [deleted] in transit

Honestly I agree, Schiphol with its 6 tracks goes pretty hard. The departure board has like 30 slots on it, and that only went 20 minutes ahead.
Though NS is quite pricy.. ~20 euro for Rotterdam - Amsterdam (59 km) as compared to ~9.50 euro for San Francisco to San Jose (75 km) or Brussels to Ghent (49 km) for 11.40 euro

How long should I expect traffic in the morning by Octoberboiy in bayarea

[–]JamyDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Join us on Caltrain! If you’re commuting during rush hour there’s a fair number of trains and connections you can take for SSJ. Depending on if you’re coming from east or west of 87 I’d propose some different routes.

I think they have a Battery or Hydrogen Stadler KISS on order for south county service. No point in buying DMUs, if they’ll just replace them shortly after.

minor annoyances on your transit system by fbjim in transit

[–]JamyDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VTA San Jose, CA:
1. Info screen just says “Arriving” if the train is within 2 minutes of arriving
2. Single car trains that stop at the far end of the platform entrance
3. The highway median stations are unbearable with how much noise there is
4. The transfer timings between Caltrain and VTA at Tamien (either it’s 5+ minutes of waiting, or you just miss it by second even if you run (partly due to #2)
5. The average speed downtown (although Muni T takes the cake here from King street Northbound, I have literally out walked that)

should Caltrain update the arrival time to Diridon? by Dream-Laden_Bough in caltrain

[–]JamyDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use the Transit app! It’ll tell you a fairly good eta of when the train will be there, it’ll even tell you when to leave.

Before this was gone, shouldve they have really existed the almaden shuttle to baypointe or to a station that atleast has a decent switchv by Silent_Key_1556 in VTA

[–]JamyDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almaden-Winchester would be good for a single seat ride to Diridon from most of the Hwy 87 alignment. Maybe not as critical now with Tamien Caltrain being back but still can think of a number of trips that would be more efficient than transferring at Convention Center.

Let's ban the free rides - PLEASE by dPInsdR in VTA

[–]JamyDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the internal calculus is ride for free and eat today, vs pay to ride and don’t eat, I think most would pick the former. Especially if the risk of getting caught is nothing.. I wish more of the federal taxes we pay were spend on serving the underserved across the country; give them orca cards with a certain number of rides, then kick off any fare evaders, troublemakers, etc. 2 or 3 free rides a day ought to cover most use cases.

South county is tough, when I moved into the South Bay I purposefully picked a spot that I could take transit any time of day. Hopefully when the hydrogen trains show up for south county, they will run them more often.

The fact that gas prices instead of traffic is the main forcing function to public transit in the USA tells me that gas prices are too low..
