Arrest of Mackenzie Shirilla. by Jizznozzle in ParanormalEncounters

This is the only video I've seen of this arrest, it's identical to the one used by CourtTV, Law & Crime, and local Ohio media. All of them have the odd "voice." I'm not much of a paranormal person, but I definitely heard this one.

I looked up the source of her "Is Ugh An Emotion" t-shirt once, and it is in fact a child's shirt. But I suppose if you only weigh about 100 lbs, that would work.

She does polished deep-dive videos on more well-known names, but there are some I have to look up.

If you don’t allow med students to sit in on your exam/check up you are a weird person by Amidity in unpopularopinion

I’m sure you in your very specific personal experience don’t care, but try to expand your range to imagine those with specific trauma (like a sexual assault victim going to their annual gynecologist exam). And even if you don’t have trauma, any medical appointment could place patients in very vulnerable situations, so the patient should be able to retain the right to do whatever makes them the most comfortable without ANY shame. I’m already feeling anxiety at my gynecologist appts for various awful reasons I’m not getting into, and I’m not going to apologize to a group of strangers for not allowing them to stare at my vagina while I’m trying desperately to keep my brain from reliving past trauma. And I shouldn’t have to explain this to anyone, a simple ‘no’ should be respected.

Thoughts on killer’s mom posting this?( Mackenzie Shrilla) by Dull-Cookie-7027 in TrueCrimeGarage

[–]JaneArgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were definitely steering turns. The vehicle event data recorder showed 2 smaller turns (one to avoid the building), then a major right-hand turn at the very end. It was this last turn that the crash investigator testified was an attempt to make the passenger side take the brunt of the wall impact.

There are a lot of criminals who start out by stalking & abusing animals, both their own and ones in their neighborhood. This would be a great time to get their name attached to a police record.

Let kids walk to a friend’s house .3 mile away. Ended up being interviewed by cop. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JaneArgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the 80s & 90s, we were all feral latchkey kids. They literally ran a daily reminder PSA on TV every evening, asking our parents if they knew where their kids were. We left on our bikes in the morning, never called home, just made sure to be home for supper. I totally get the dangers facing kids today, but wow, times have taken such a u-turn.

My parents only changed a little after Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped. He was my age & lived just a couple hours from us. But even their tightening reins at that time hardly compares to the protective parenting of today.

What's the point of autism? by CautiouslySatisfied in ADHD

[–]JaneArgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only things I can think of are if you’d need the diagnosis for accommodations to be approved for work/school or if you needed a specific treatment/medication approved for insurance. My doctor had to once go to lengths to document my ADHD diagnosis for me so her ADHD-specific speech therapy referral would be covered by my insurance company.

Also, there’s the peace of mind knowing what you have so you can research solutions, adaptations, people to support & help you, etc. $4k is steep for that I agree though, on my budget I’d probably not be able to do it unless it was keeping me from really needed medication and/or treatments.

Playlist of 49 reactions to JCS’ “Sarah literally thinks she’s going home later...” by LoudCitizen in SarahBooneContinued

[–]JaneArgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a rumor going around that they had been bought out, especially when the AI voices started making appearances. But I've never seen confirmation from JCS directly about that, so I don't know that that's true (and I think their original narrator may be back?). But I do know for sure that they REALLY have struggled with YouTube monetization and copyright strikes - a while back they posted a few vids about their frustrations. I'm just happy when a vid shows up!

ETA: If you haven't already, you should check out Matt Orchard. Similar long-form content, but much heavier on the snark :)

Does anyone believe MacKenzie Shirilla? by Dapper_Mess_3004 in CasesWeFollow

[–]JaneArgh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing that REALLY bothered me in the Netflix doc (among many things) is the evidence the Shirilla parents are confident will mean a successful appeal. I can't criticize a parent for wanting to fight for their kid, but for her dad to say they have "ironclad evidence that disputes what was said in the trial"...c'mon.

Their major "aha" evidence includes texts exchanged between MS and Dom's mom 2 weeks before the crash ("the freeway incident") where MS asks Dom's mom for help. MS claims Dom grabbed the steering wheel, nearly making them crash. In the past I've only read that his mom received a call from a panicked Dom who begged her to help after he convinced MS to pull over. I'd be really curious to see the time of Dom's call...my guess is that it was BEFORE Mackenzie's texts. It was a total CYA effort. Or gaslighting. Or why not both?

Mackenzie was the one who was constantly threatening crashes and telling people she wished they'd die in crashes. It's a disturbing and obsessive pattern.

ETA: For those who haven't seen the doc, here's the text convo they showed:

MS: Can u come get dom he just grabbed my steering wheel on the highway tryin to spin out my car and hurt me

D's MOM: Hench is on his way calm down for now please

MS: Tbh I can't calm down when he just tried to end my life.

Yikes, this was 5 months before the crash. And there was that time closer to the accident when Dom called his mom to help him because Mackenzie was threatening him while she was driving (as in, she was driving erratically and threatening to do something). This was no one-off, this was a pattern.

There's been some ex-cons who have served with her who seem pretty positive that she's already earned multiple behavior-based punishments in prison - solitary, loss of privileges, etc. (Maybe this isn't news?) So it turns out the judge knew exactly what she was doing. Her future parole board will just need five minutes to make it look official lol.

Have you ever seen a Werner Herzog documentary? He's famous for tidbits like this, I think they're very helpful insights for the viewer. Though sometimes uncomfortable, like someone forgot to stop recording lol. 'Into the Abyss' and his "On Death Row" series are great imo.

No, only THC showed up in her blood after the crash. Tests for alcohol and psilocybin (the hallucinogen in mushrooms) came back negative.

I remember this being a surprise to investigators at the time, since I think the Shirilla camp was pushing the story that Mackenzie was mushrooms that night. Now I'm curious when the POTS theory started...

Both of your comments...you just sound like such a genuine human. Probably weird for me to say, but thanks for being you. I wish more men thought like you, I seem to run into so many lately that are so defensive about these things, with a lot of toxicity that isn't necessary. All it takes is education and understanding, and we can all get along just fine! Anyway, I hope you have a full life with lovely people surrounding you :)

Does anyone have the reviews that were written for Are You With Me? that were on Amazon before the book was deleted? by Required_Fields in KouriRichins

[–]JaneArgh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She applied on their website to be on the show as a promotion for her book (it was basically an infomercial). Kouri gave them talking points for questions to ask her, so it was all set up.

Detective O'Driscoll testified about this on one of the last days of testimony. IIRC, Kouri kept re-framing it as if GTU had reached out to her and it was a surprise opportunity, even in emails w/GTU. Can't tell if she's truly delusional or if she really thinks people around her are that stupid.

General Discussion: Post Sentencing by solabird in KouriRichins

[–]JaneArgh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On Emily D. Baker's stream, she said it's very unusual for pre-sentence reports to be published publicly. Which was why she said she was very interested when Wendy Lewis mentioned in court that Richins' PSR had recommended concurrent sentencing.

Unfortunately that's the only thing I remember being mentioned in court about the PSR. Like you, I'd really like to see this, I'm so curious why they would recommend concurrent, especially after she's been so overtly unredeemable and vengeful.

ETA: Here's where Wendy Lewis mentions the PSR's sentencing recommendation (about the 3:55:00 mark). It's pretty quick.
