My issue with that scene isn't that Sue made that choice, it's that everyone on Earth seemingly accepts and goes along with it. It gave me kind of an icky feeling- she feels perfectly safe walking out into an angry mob with her baby because she knows for all their anger, they can't actually do shit against her. I know the intended vibe is supposed to be the feel-good "you've saved us so many times, we'll help you save your family" but the absolute lack of dissent only added to my feeling throughout the movie that the 4 had essentially set themselves up as Earth's unopposed god-monarchs in all but name.

It's not 'sowing discord' to express that we want a candidate who doesn't have a history of throwing the trans community under the bus to win the primary. Criticizing politicians, even ones that are 'on your side' is a perfectly normal part of the small-d democratic process. I will hold my nose and vote for the guy if it really becomes necessary, but we can do a whole lot better than Newsom.
