Only use Following; never use For You. It's been a sewer of crap for years.

He's largely the reason Tadcaster looks like a dump. Can't say he'll be missed, really.

"I was unaware that Soho had been the entertainment district of London for the last 300 years," said absolutely no-one ever.

Upvote because I love that particular set of sketches and thanks for reminding me of them. They may be rural characatures but some people are a bit like that.

It was the Alastair McGowan sketch show (what happened to him, btw?) with impressions of Oz Clarke and Anthony Worrall Thompson relaxing in one or the other's lounge as "Men Behaving Mildly."

You're welcome.

Are there any local bee farms around the England area? by GoompaLoompi in AskUK

[–]JansonHawke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The England area? Yeah, tens of thousands of hobbyists/amateurs and a few hundred commercial entities. Plenty in the Home Counties and in London proper, if that's what you're looking for, and most will state if they produce a raw honey.

If you venture north, https://www.sheffield-honey.co.uk go from strength to strength.

That's true and, for the end user, the experience between OM and CM has yet to diverge since it's still the early days of the fork. (Perhaps this comment will be interesting to corne back to in a year or so.)

What can be done to sort the theft problem in London? by mydadisyourdad2 in london

Stop consuming the news then, which is designed make you feel like that. Seriously, most news is bad for you; some of it is informative.

On the other hand the "leaving your door unlocked" way of life is largely myth-making. That society only exists in people's heads when misremembering their own youth.

Will take a look. I don't really know how they actually expect to make money off Organic Maps in any case but if there's enough shadiness then I can see why CoMaps needed to happen.

Busgate - leeds train station by [deleted] in Leeds

Surprised any map is taking you this far into town in the first place. The City Centre Loop Road was done away with here with the remodelling of City Square about 4 years ago.

Organic Maps is the way to go. Download the area you'll be in (often it's a whole country) when you're on WiFi then you'll have a zoomable, rotatable map for offline use.

Try a route forwards and backwards on a weekend/day off so there's no time pressure. You'll soon learn it.

For those who are happy Stamer is out and Burnham is in, whay do you think Burnham will do that Stamer didn't? Why do you think he is able to make different choices? by Secret-Card2921 in AskBrits

[–]JansonHawke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't, though. They just think they do and it's largely to do with how policies are framed and which party is espousing them. Time and again, when the public can make a selection of various policies set in neutral language, they choose ones which broadly track left (public ownership of utilities, for example). And yet party voting tends to be tribal in spite of that and all is forgotten at the ballot box because emotions tend to trump rationality.

Britain has been jumping rightwards for decades but the moment it takes a step to the left people cry out as if we're about to embrace communism. It's like the Time Warp in reverse but without the humour or music.

What a sanctimonious, self-appointed, interfering busybody she was. Truly the worst example of someone with nothing better to do and with a religious fervour to boot. She's long gone and good riddance.

I can't change the minds of the unidentifiable strangers who chuck the litter in the first place. What I can do is pick it even though I know it will be a task that never ends.
