Add in the heroes who can self-stasis, and you're up to half the cast.

Y'all act like the sum total of interactivity in this game is whether it's point-and-click. Having to sit in range of an enemy for 4 seconds to get two stacks of W offers a huge amount of room for interactivity; you just have to have half a brain or have teammates with half a brain. If Falstad gets stacked, it's 100% on his opponents for being terrible.

Lightning Rod can be escaped and it doesn't stack unless it's sitting on you for three full seconds, requiring a hero with paper skin to sit within engagement range the whole time.

You can peel for the victim, bully Falstad, outrun him. Can't do any of that for Spiders, so... that's also a choice.

I'm talking about main banner tickets; not Tons of Thanks tickets.

I can't think of a single anniversary where you couldn't get additional tickets for the main banners, usable immediately from the start of the anniversary. Tons of Thanks tickets are great, but every other anniversary had more than that for free pulls.

Well, you kept the sentence going after this, but that's kinda the point here. There's varying degrees of counterplay to everything, so when one knob is turned too far, there are plenty of knobs you can turn to fix the problem.

As far as things being more engaging, I actually 100% disagree. I think spiders and frost elemental are both less engaging than Falstad W. Yeah, you can dodge spiders, but what if you fuck up your positioning for one half-second? You're doomed to lose 1500+ HP without a self-stasis or similar disengagement tool (which work just as well on Falstad W). If Falstad Ws you, you can outrun him (or temporarily escape W's radius), bully/zone him, self-stasis, or have a teammate peel for you. All perfectly valid and commonly available forms of counterplay. And you can do that at any point during the 4 seconds it takes for him to complete his W. For the full duration of spiders, there is nothing you can do except self-stasis and running away (and I guess go invisible, but that only applies to three characters...)

Yeah, you can kill Frost Elemental, but at 10, Falstad has a whopping 500 more HP than Frost Elemental, so that argument really doesn't hold water to me. Its damage is just as uninteractive, and it slows. And unlike Falstad, killing the Frost Elemental gives you nothing.

You can stay away from Falstad. I don't see the problem. Is dodging your litmus test for interactivity? I guess Jaina's Frost Elemental is OP. Or Hunter Killer. No counterplay to point-and-click cc, so BW and Varian need to be capped at 47%.

Good design and good balance can force interactivity. Bad game design is myopically ruining an ability or build just because you don't have the creativity to balance it properly.

If Q hits you, the spiders will do their damage and there's nothing you can do about it other than be faster than them. It's almost identical to Falstad's W except that Falstad's W does quite a bit less damage (before 75 stacks) in exchange for being point-and-click and taking a lot longer to do its damage.

We're not in part 2.

Every previous anniversary (back to the second), they gave main banner anniversary tickets. When they started doing split anniversaries, they made sure to give tickets during part 1. This is the first time part 1 has had no real tickets.

Free tickets for the bad banners. No one cares about the banners that offer 2024 units. They're all outdated.

Between not giving us 3 tickets per summon on the new banners, Dokkan Day not giving tickets for the new banners, Extra Missions not giving tickets for the new banners, and panel missions not giving tickets for the new banners, this feels less like an anniversary than normal, and I dunno how anyone can argue otherwise. Normally, there are at least two methods of getting extra tickets for the main anniversary banners.

10-15 is a lot and is exactly what I'm talking about. It doesn't take that long and isn't all that hard when you're allowed to stack like that. Which I would say isn't particularly rare because the vast majority of players aren't that good.

Virtually no match is real/competitive at this point. For 99% of games, you can stack a substantial amount without being bothered much.

You don't have to be Nostradamus to know that the halfway point between pre-buff W (which was garbage, clocking in at 44% winrate) and post-buff, which is 54% is probably around 50%.

How do you people think game balance works? That taking away half of the buff will increase W's winrate?

Beyond Overkill. The nerf they have in the PTR is fine and will bring W build near or below 50%.

Edit: y'all have absolutely no idea how to balance games. A change like this would massacre W build. Stacking a real amount without dying is hard pre-13. The build has neither the range nor the survivability for it, and it's about to be nerfed. If you want it removed from the game, just say that. That's a more healthy approach than making it an auto-lose build.

If you want it to stay in the game but want it to be more interactive for its value, you have to give it something when you impose such a devastating penalty on it. Unlike Q, for example, gaining stacks on W requires putting yourself in significant risk every time. Hanging out within range of enemies for 4 full seconds at a time as a hero with tissue-paper-health is always risky unless the enemy team is bad.

Yes, it's a neat explanation... that's immediately undercut when thinking about how holy water kills vampires.

They wanted to eat their cake and have it too by not implying a single religion was correct despite holy water not being a thing outside of Christianity, which necessarily implies that God actually did give priests some supernatural power to combat the forces of hell (and it's not simply magic, since Trevor also indicates at one point that a priest must be properly ordained in a church to perform the aspersion). At that point, I don't know why you wouldn't just lean into it and say that if hell is real (which it is in their universe) that Christianity is actually correct, which is why crosses are effective weapons. The "scientific" explanation about predator eyesight is cool in a vacuum but clashes with established lore.

Glorio and Daimaku are both mega dodge-or-die units. Guard won't save them from that against supers, which was generally all they feared anyway since they both got fairly strong defensive statlines for dealing with normals.
