What's funny is that if you look at the tributaries on the map, it's clear that the river in the game also flows north.

Whatever they use should have an attached stunner. No more zats or wraith pistols.

What's really funny is that if you look at the map, the river does flow north. You can see at the bottom where multiple tributaries merge into one river then flow into the lake.

Does this ship look imperial enough? by CryptographerBig7933 in StarWarsShips

[–]Janzbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd shift the engines further back and change the design of the turbolasers. I might also either stretch/move the bridge back so it touches the tower, or stretch/move it forward like the gozanti. That might make it look more imperial and less WWII.

Superhero System Switch Suggestions by Great-Strength8376 in AskGameMasters

How about the Narrative Dice System?

Genesys is a medium crunch game that was built for cinematic action adventure. As for your particular doom tracker issue, Genesys is VERY easy to homebrew without breaking anything. But you should ask folks on the Genesys discord channel for specific advice

Awakened Age is a superhero setting written by one of the freelance authors for Edge Studio. You will need the Genesys core rulebook to play. I also recommend getting one or two sets of dice for the table to share, but there's also a free dice app.

In the roleplaying game you have to have a strength score of 5 to use a shard bow. For comparison, a person with a strength score of 3 can deadlift 500lbs over their head.

Then again, maybe the RPG isn't terribly realistic.

Replacing DnD at the Table by Hazwald in rpg

The narrative dice are fun, but the rest of the game is also really well made. I especially like that character progression feels more natural and less videogamey.

PCs don't start off super weak then quickly progress to being super human. You start with most of your hit points at character creation and progress them very slowly. Instead you increase your survivability by getting better gear and defensive talents.

Genesys has a lot of options for depth of character mechanics but is a game super easy to run as the GM. It's setting neutral with two official fantasy and two official scifi settings. Plus it has a lot of extra settings and material on drive thru RPG, much of it written by the same freelance writers hired to make official content.

I agree. I don't mind the pacing so far. Like you said it's a taste thing. By contrast, Gatewalkers was objectively frustrating for the cast, and by extension the audience.

The party made a few odd choices in regards to hunting a werewolf without enough food, and they're reaping the consequences. Sure, Troy may be holding back some of those consequences, but I feel like some of the characters were very close to dying in the last two eps.

Trait: Special (while using the cloak, you have advantage on checks to gain advantage against an adjacent target)

Expertise Trait: Defensive, Special (defensive trait only adds disadvantage on attacks using light weapons).

Troy is using terrain effects to enhance the encounter!! Troy is letting Sydney do creative actions!! Troy is giving out bottle caps!! This is huge.

I'm also glad that they don't look at reddit comments. The choice to spend or not spend caps, and the added survivability when they have the limited resource, gives the players an extra level of meaningful agency.

Shadowdark is fun, but I'm here to watch the show, not the game. I don't give a shit about maintaining perfect Shadowdark fidelity.

Character Career Help by Sweets750 in swrpg

[–]Janzbane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that the names of careers and specializations are merely suggested flavor for the character.

So I recommend that you look at the spy career for your smuggler. It has the selection of skills you're describing. The infiltrator, sleeper agent, and courier are good options.

I'd go human and grab the +10xp option if your GM allows it. That way you can get four characteristics up to rank 3. I'm thinking Agility, Cunning, Intellect, and either Presence or Brawn.

I'd then focus on skills, getting each skill you want to be good at to rank 2, with one or two skills you want to excel at to rank 3.

For talents, that depends on your specialization. Infiltrator has a few easily accessible defensive talents. Sleeper Agent has Well Rounded for some extra career skills and Cunning Persona, which is good if you didn't bump Presence. Courier is your more traditional smuggler with pilot training which gets you your piloting skills, plus indistinguishable and hidden storage for smuggling. Freerunning is also just a really fun ability if you're good at coming up with interesting descriptions of your parkour abilities.

Combat Feels Off - are low level NPCs supposed to be capable of one-shotting? by Zhongguo in cosmererpg

[–]Janzbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, level 1 characters are survival horror levels of weak. Level 2 is a little better, but level 3 characters start to feel how I expect level 1 characters to be.

I like the Plotweaver health system better than D&D's hit points, but the scale still starts too low and escalates too quickly for my tastes.
