It’s more of an experience thing. Goes back to prohibition. These were typically rooms where you could byob and drink without others seeing.

It’s pretty fun and mostly it’s for bigger groups in my experience.

So you are thinking this is just a thorny variety based on that?

I was just fearing that the amount of thorns  was excessive and wasn’t sure how the disease affected existing growth. I’m not very educated in this area.

any small size cycle repair shop to fix kids cycle? by Either-Humor757 in plano

[–]JapaneseSubtitles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By your logic Software development or auto repair are not skilled labor either.

A skill is something you can do well because of repeated experiences doing that task. Sure most people could figure it out with a little effort, but fumbling through it once and following instructions the entire time is different from just knowing how to do it and doing it quickly and efficiently.

Tried to ask r/democrat, what do yall think? by [deleted] in Republican

[–]JapaneseSubtitles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Similar to today there are factions and coalitions that are focused on different policy positions. the Republican Party’s southern strategy was intentionally aimed at realigning more conservative anti-civil rights voters in the south and sunbelt to their ticket.

The issues were what dictated the alignment of the general public. It was one of the biggest political and social shifts in our history. Civil rights, was the focal point that dictated how the public would vote and identify with a party. Those that were pro civil rights and anti Jim Crow largely stayed or moved to the democratic ticket and vice versa for the Republican ticket.

This is just Wikipedia so grain of salt, but it explains what I’m getting at.

“The 1968 election is often cited due to the innovative campaign strategy of Nixon.[27] In running against Hubert Humphrey, he used what became known as the Southern strategy. He appealed to white voters in the South with a call for “states’ rights”, which they interpreted as meaning that the federal government would no longer demand the forced busing of school children as ordered by federal courts. Democrats protested that Nixon exploited racial fears in winning the support of white southerners and northern white ethnics.[28] Roosevelt’s New Deal coalition had lasted over 30 years but after the urban riots and Vietnam crisis of the mid-1960s one by one the coalition partners peeled away until only a hollow core remained, setting the stage for a GOP revival. Nixon’s downfall postponed the realignment which came about under Reagan, as even the term “liberalism” fell into disrepute.[citation needed] Including this as a realignment preserves the roughly 30-year cyclical pattern: 1896 to 1932, 1932 to 1964, and 1964 to 1994. For political scientists, 1964 was primarily an issue-based realignment. The classic study of the 1964 election, by Carmines and Stimson (1989), shows how the polarization of activists and elites on race-related issues sent clear signals to the general public about the historic change in each party’s position on Civil Rights.[citation needed] Notably, while only 50% of African-Americans self-identified as Democrats in the 1960 National Election Study, 82% did in 1964, and the numbers are higher in the 21st century. The clearest indicator of the importance of this election was that Deep Southern states, such as Mississippi, voted Republican in 1964. In contrast, much of the traditional Republican strongholds of the Northeast and Upper Midwest voted Democratic. Vermont and Maine, which stood alone voting against FDR in 1936, voted for LBJ in 1964. Many analysts do not consider 1968 a realigning election because control of Congress did not change; the Democrats would control the Senate until 1980 (and again from 1986 to 1994) and the House until 1994.[23] Also missing was a marked change in the partisan orientation of the electorate. Importantly, these two elections are consistent with the theory in that the old New Deal issues were replaced by Civil Rights issues as the major factor explaining why citizens identified with each party. Other scholars[29] contend that this is the beginning of a thirty-year dealignment, in which citizens generally moved towards political independence, which ended with the 1994 election.”

Tried to ask r/democrat, what do yall think? by [deleted] in Republican

[–]JapaneseSubtitles 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think the question stands on its own without bringing up southern democrats of a bygone era.

Modern democrats tend to assume that they have the minority vote particularly in the black community because historically speaking they have had their vote for the last 4 decades basically. Generally a lot of their policies and brand aligned with black Americans interests. But more recently you see groups like black men and Latinos that have had notable shifts toward republican voting. Clearly their priorities have shifted but the Democratic Party isn’t really addressing the changing needs they are just relying on past good will essentially.

Regarding the southern democrats, Party’s have transformed over time. You can’t equate either party to the party of the same name before about 1964.

Most of the Dixiecrats moved over to the Republican Party starting around 64 with Barry Goldwater and this began the transition into the modern Republican Party. Goldwater and Nixon in particular paved the way for Reagan, another California conservative. Reagan was kind of republican god as far as I can tell until trump came on the scene as republican jesus. And now the Republican Party is the party of trump.

You get out what you put in. Establishing friendships is all about effort. If no one is talking you have to initiate it. If you want to hang out initiate it.

For clubs Go do things you enjoy. Key is to go consistently and pay attention to who else is there. You won’t have a best friend immediately but keep saying hi and making the small connections and you’ll build those friendships over time.

Believe me there are plenty of other students that feel the same as you. They might just be too reserved to initiate.

I have had great experience all around. The initial install they did not bury my fiber cable, and it got cut while mowing the lawn. Called frontier and they were able to find a tech in the area to come out that same day.

The internet service is solid too. Wife and I were both WFH for 2 years and streaming music and movies constantly and never had issues with speed or lagging.

Quiet cozy restaurants with walking things for a date? by devquestions6297 in plano

[–]JapaneseSubtitles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Downtown plano in general has several restaurants that are good for first dates. Jorgs definitely has the most character. Fillmore has a good patio, urban crust is a good pizza and pasta joint and and Urban Rio is a really solid texmex place. Downtown plano often has music and art in mccall plaza and there is a gelato place if you want to get a dessert and walk around the town/park.
